I have never used device lock on any of my previous phones, but in these days I'm getting a bit more wary. However I do very rarely leave my own wlan and I would find it extremely annoying if I should unlock my phone with a 5+ digit code every time I look up something. Hence my request for disabling device lock on a "trusted wlan". It would require:

  • Defining a network as trusted.
  • Defining what a trusted network is. I assume a combination of SSID and MAC-address with which you have successfully associated would be a good start - and enough security for me even though they can be spoofed. People worried about that could just not use the option.
  • Keeping a list of "trusted" networks and the ability to edit them and associating the lock behaviour to them.

This could be related to https://together.jolla.com/question/1685/we-need-a-scheduler-or-automation-tool-like-profilematic-or-situations/ if a 'keep-the-phone-unlocked' action is implemented.

Indeed it could. Hadn't seen that entry.

In order to improve on the security aspect, should we maybe require to be successfully associated with the network for this?

That would make spoofing harder. Not impossible of course.
