System-update notifications keep re-appearing although update already installed [released]

This morning I manually checked for updates and installed 1.0.2.5. Later today I got a notification that 1.0.2.5 was available although I had installed it already. Based on the comments it seems to have happened to others too.

Edit 8.1.2014: update notifications keep on re-appearing for many still. Checking for updates or opening store seems to clear the notification, but the root cause is not resolved.

Edit 2.2.2014: seems that update notifications erroneously appear for some even after upgrade to 1.0.3.8

EDIT: This doesn't seem to happen any more in 1.0.5.19

Well to be fair my question was whether anybody had seen it, so it is an answer to that :) Perhaps the question was not well formulated, but I wanted to know if it was a common problem before reporting a bug.

Well true I guess, though really a proper answer would also explain why it happened - a "me too" isn't adding any value (and for what it's worth, I too got the system update notification a second time having already updated to 1.0.2.5)

Me too. Several times. I've run these commands (from https://lists.sailfishos.org/pipermail/devel/2013-December/002182.html ) to refresh repo and notifications disappear after reboot.

In terminal, type:

[nemo@localhost ~]$ devel-su 
Password:
[root@localhost nemo]# ssu domain sales
[root@localhost nemo]# ssu release 1.0.2.5
[root@localhost nemo]# ssu ur
[root@localhost nemo]# pkcon refresh

(not sure if that's the good solution)

Done that, but the 1.0.2.5 update notification reappeared a few moments after rebooting.

Get this messages when doing the described steps above:

That was not a long time before it showed up again, maybe 5 minutes =/

Yes this seems not to be the solution. It shows up again and again after every reboot of the device.

Problem Just received another notification 'System update 1.0.2.5 / 1.0.3.8 available', even if phone is already up-to-date.

Workaround Go to Settings > System settings > About product and click 'Check for updates'' to clear it. The status should change to 'Up to date', and notification should go away from Events feed.

I have used this now two times, so it seems to be a proper (and simple) workaround for this re-occuring issue. Note, that the root cause of this is not, however, still known.

Strangely it doesn't work for me, but going into the Jolla Store clears the notification.

Yes, UD 1.0.2.5 is here again ... but this time it is different. First one says, system is up to date, but changes name from 1.0.2.5 (Maadajävri) to 1.0.2.5 (Maadajävri) (armv7hl), next actually downloads/installs/reboots and says (Maadajävri) (armv7hl) and yet another dl/ins/reb same name displayed

Just ten lines of text with the features of the update. I didn't noticed this when my phone was updated some weeks ago.

First of all, this update notification is harmless. :) Updating will be a no-op.

There's some bug in the way updates are detected that is triggered under some circumstances.

Looks like similar problem to mine, link text, I get this persistent notifications for apps in JStore.

Yes and ppl keep thinking what to do with it, and some answers have here given to get rid of it simply (because in some cases clicking it starts to do something). How does it help users that end up here, when you just say 'update is no-op'?

The same happened to me a few days ago with Naamankajärvi update. I don't see any harm since it's a no-op, but the false excitement of having a new update available when seeing the update notification before checking the version number of the update to see it's the current one and not a new one ;)

I think is caused in my case by the sdcard. When I update content on my sdcard, for example, music, the update notification appears again. After the update I can't browse music with the player, I have to eject the sdcard again, add content, and then again I am able to browse the music with the player. The notification for update appears again.

You could try not to do the.update, but just clear the notification (by doing Check for updates). That have been working well for me.

I have tried again another action. Launching apps installed with Google PLAY STORE, makes the notification appearing again. I did what you say, but it leads me to download the update.

I haven't suggested to do the update nor download anything just getting rid of the notification. Some have also been able to get rid of it by fiddling with Store or CLI (pkcon refresh).. In none of these workarounds is the update actually made or any files downloaded.

BTW: Google Store is not officially supported in Jolla, so using it might evenbcause these notifications or do.something else undesirable..
