Facebook announced, that instant messages shall be soon transferred from Facebook to to Messanger system.

What does this mean for Sailfish users?

Pretty sure Facebook is just removing the messaging capabilities of the Facebook application so you now have to use their Messenger application to send messages (whereas before you could send messages from both).

This has no consequences for us, unless you used the Facebook app with the Android support to send group messages, in that case you will have to install the Messenger app to send group messages (or use the mobile site).

Thanks! As I understand Sailfish sends and receives fb messages using fd API, which doesn't need any changes.

Probably. But unfortunately whatever way is being used for the messaging in Sailfish, group messages do not seem to be supported so far. Not sure if the API doesn't allow this or is not implemented in the messaging stack by Jolla.

It's not supported by Facebook. I don't think there are any third party clients that can use Facebook's group messaging.
