Original post by schturman;

Hi After last system update I noticed that when I take picture in portrait mode it automatically rotate it to landscape mode in the preview (right swipe from camera after shot) and in the gallery.

Why? Can I fix it somehow ?

Edited - problem still persists in 2020, regardless of OS version

This is not a new problem and I'm quite certain I have posted about it before, but cannot find the original or anything similar. If someone finds the original report, please let me know (thanks @aspergerguy for finding this original question when i could not!)

A brief description;

Take a picture with Jolla1, swipe right to view it, image rotates to left, then back to portrait. This does not affect the image when viewed in the main gallery as mentioned in the original post above.

I believe that this question is not about the same problem; https://together.jolla.com/question/51323/gallery-shows-portrait-photos-in-landscape-after-10819-upgrade/ so I don't think this is a duplicate but is perhaps related.

Did you set the homescreen orientation fixed to landscape or portrait? If I do that, all pictures I take have the orientation set wrong.

No.. never touched it, it still dynamic..

p.s. now for the test i changed it to portrait and was making pic. but it also rotated automatically to landscape..

P.S 2. Just noticed that pictures from yesterday now in correct rotation and also show dimension (lenght/wide), maybe it fixed after reboot. But all new pics in portrait mode still rotated automatically and not show dimension (lenght = 0 wide = 0) :(

Related or even possible duplicate to https://together.jolla.com/question/51323/gallery-shows-portrait-photos-in-landscape-after-10819-upgrade/ ?

perhaps the tracker tip will help...

I have noticed that when you edit the "false" picture by rotating it, the new picture will have correct orientation both in thumb nail and actual picture.

Yea.. probably the same problem...

There definitely have someting. When you look them from gallery, in small picture mode they are portrait mode, but if you open it -> it's on landscape :D.

I think there is/was some problem with the Camerapro app, because i did use that before i take portrail mode pics with a stock camera app. It did organized pictures wrong (Camerapro old pics on top always), reboot fix all problem..

Exactly.. But in my case I never installed/used Camerapro app and reboot not help :(

I havent used nothing but the stock camera app and pictures get rotated automatically. I had to fix them manually by rotating the pictures after taking them.

If you take pics now, you still have landscape? After reboot? :O i can't make it happend again.. hmm... If i look info from my pics (when problem was there), Jolla say lenght = 0 wide = 0 maybe that is something to do with it?

Makeclick ( 2014-08-04 11:00:57 +0300 )edit

Yep, exactly it's not showing dimension.. p.s. manual rotation of pics is not solution...

I'm experiencing the exact same problem. didn't touch orientarion of homescreen, nor installed campro. only rotating back and forth seems to help...

Now camera take pic and not rotate it.

but does it still work after reboot, is is a permanent fix? And how did you come by this solution?

dsilveira ( 2014-08-23 15:45:08 +0300 )edit

for me it work after reboot too.

Schturman ( 2014-08-23 16:03:33 +0300 )edit

In other words what you're saying is that you type this command, and the bug never appears again, you can take as many pictures you want in whathever orientation you want, and all is well?

for now yes, it work for me. Whrn you take new pic in portrait mode and swype to right side, you see pic in right posision and immediately it rotate automatically to landscape and immediately back to portrait. I can live with it.

Schturman ( 2014-08-23 17:13:24 +0300 )edit

Only a temporary fix, not permanent for me.
