Jolla and the first ones + HK VIPs

So now we know that JollaHK is considering pre-order customers as VIPs - Jolla, I consider this as an intentional boom in the face of your the first one community, they pre-ordered just like the EU pre-order. The EU pre-order got what was written to be in the package, HK pre-order gets the same + 2 TOHs (60eur for EU pre-orderers) and a hand-crafted leather box (not available) - don't you think that this was a tad too much special treatment for the long wait?

It would be a nice gesture from Jolla to offer the original first ones at least a chance to purchase the VIP box (for a special price)... And the original First One other half should stay unique, it should be a different one for later "first ones"! (Not that Jolla is in any way obliged to do this, I just think it would be good for the company image and the spirit of the community, in which the early supporters play a large role.)


And I see what some people want to express sometimes it looks a bit like Jolla does not care about the "real" First Ones to keep them a bit special.

I don't get your point. The First One were actually the first to receive the Jollas (now by a wide margin). Why Jolla should stop to make new offers? That the price go down by the time is obvious, needles to say it is the same for any other phone. I don't see anything wrong from Jolla here.

Probably he means the printed "First ones". Maybe those should have been only for the first offering -even though people in other regions are "first ones"-. While i get his point personally i don't give a fuck about the marketing stuff & i am fine as long as they polish the OS itself.

iPhone 5s 16Go is sold ~520€ (700$) in USA and more or less 700€ in EU. And even with this boom in the face, you know how European people run to Apple Stores each time to get the last model.

The First One reprinted? Well let's say they are the first ones in HK. They could have make it different, but, I will probably never cross one of their owners, so if it can trigger more pre-orders for Jolla, good for them. In Europe we are enjoying the phone since 7 months while they could not pre-order last year and had to wait. I see that as a way to thank them for their patience.

For the updates, 6 hours before or later, it will not change anybody's life :)

Back then when I pre-ordered, everybody was left in the believe that TOH is the name of the first Jolla phone, what was actually a badly printed TOH backcover with an ambience that did not receive an update after that. I can live with it. I can even live with another pre-order campaign for another market - even calling them TFO too. What is bugging me is that there is a VIP package I was asking for month ago. Now they add it to their campaign in HK, good thing, I know the HK market is important. I recognize a twitter contest about VIP packages as prizes for Europe only but the page for it soon vanished. The price is for sure lower as they do not have to import it to Europe in the first place. But this is the price for the whole package, 2 extra other halves + box.

@chemist If it is the price you complain about i believe it makes sense to a company to have different pricing strategy and offers/bundles depending on the market currency whatever people are willing to pay etc. You can't do anything about it. It happens with all the products. From electronics to cars to food items.

I voted this question up, not because I totally agree but because I find this an important matter.

  • It's ok by me that each new market have their true first ones, including both the TOH and the possible updates.
  • It's ok by me that the price is fixed to meet the market requirements.
  • What is not ok is to leave a feeling to some The First One Customers that they are the only VIP customers if they are not.

In this case Jolla could have simply

  • told all their first one customers about this IN ADVANCE
  • maybe share something about the reasons behind it
  • maybe giving their The First One customers a possibility to join this campaign with a tuned up special price
  • and in overall, make The First One customers feels that they still are The First Ones.

Personally I find other issues more important, but for some ppl this matters a lot.

I will always feel special being a first owner whatever happens. In my point of view, I paid whai I wanted to give Jolla (we weren´t only paying for a phone). And I am happy not only with my purchase, but knowing I supported Jolla, and I am part of this. That´s my two (euro) cents.

I was a first one but the world failed to pay me respect for that :D Happy to use Jolla as main phone. Looking forward to hardware upgrades: camera, FMtx, IR, display viewing angles rather than a cardboard VIP box.
