Contactsd process sometimes chews up high cpu utilization and jolla has confirmed this is due to it performing contacts synchronization with your online accounts such as facebook, exchange etc.

When I launch the People app, it initiates a contacts synchronization automatically. this slows down the phone immensely sometimes.

Jolla has said they will be introducing some database optimizations in the future to improve this.

I have tried setting my phone to offline mode and launching the People app and also the Phone app. No slow down perceived. in fact, scrolling through the call history in the phone app is very smooth. there is still some jerkiness but it is a huuuge improvement.

May i request that a future update include a way to control synchronization manually? a setting under Settings / Apps / People to allow the user to select automatic or manual synchronization. in the people app, have a pull down menu to initiate manual sync if that is the setting the user has chosen for synchronization.

this only concerns synchronization of contact details. updating the contact's online / offline status should still continue as is.
