Any Skype working client??? [answered]

As above.

It's really irritating that Jolla is focusing it's energy on implementing android compatibility instead of focusing on essential things like these - skype, gtalk and SIP integration

Sorry, had to say that. So, with the new update (both on Sailfish and Skype side), is there any working Skype client and if so where can I get it???

Skype is owned by Microsoft. Does Jolla have any control over adding Skype support to Sailfish?

Also, not everyone has the same opinion on what's "essential". :)

:) So. Any ideas about a working Skype client for Jolla atm?

Actually, the android skype client works quite nice, thanks to Jolla focusing on android support ;) Ok, granted, it totally misses Sailfish notification and message integration thanks to M$ politics. but since last update you can just leave android skype open and multitask away. It will stay connected and inform you on incoming messages and calls via audio signals.

Thanks. Have you tried it lately, though? I will never be convinced that creating a non-Android OS which is focused on Android compatibillity doesn't involve at least a silly error in the "master plan". Regarding the subject, so far I've managed to find and install the 4.9.0.4564 version. That one works, but can only be used via the loudspeakers (so, it seems that this issue still isn't fixed in Dalvik) and not sure (haven't tried yet) for the video calls in both ways. The previously installed newer version (5.1.76.50382) just shuts down immidiately after login. No go for me.

hmm, i updated to 5.1 and had the same issue... reverted back to 4.9. to have it working again. I did not try 5.1 before posting sorry! Video call works both ways. did that today in 4.9. I obviously use skype rarely... nearly all my contacts moved to xmpp! And reagrding Jolla and Android support, keep in mind that this is a temporary focus to gain marketshare. Once Jolla really is the "third player" in the Game, M$ will desperately want Jolla to have native skype, if it will still exist then ;)

Ok, so latest available in markets version of Skype either hangs or closes in Jolla with 1.0.8.19 firmware. Older versions request update to the latest one. The only version found to work so far is 4.9.0.4564 available at http://www.appsapk.com/skype/ . Guess that's related to the whole fun Microsoft is having with Skype server protocols (shutting down all 3rd party hooks) at the moment.

4.9.0.4564 works only for text messaging.

latest version 5.xxxx works actually. it's a little slow to start up but it eventually does fire up.

OK. So there is no reliable Skype client at this moment.

The news is, at this moment some 5.x version works fine with a wired headset, it's usable
