Now we need to swipe up and down to check the apps installed. If there are too many apps and/or folders, we have to swipe the screen many times to go back to the lock or multitasks screen from the bottom. So why not change the swipe direction of launcher from vertical to horizontal?

disagree. it is the same. I don't see how your suggestion is different.

can you please explain what the benefits are?

yes i dont see the benefits either, you have to swipe be it horizontal or vertical there would be no difference.

what I would like/suggest: If you are within the launcher area the swipe from left/right gesture is not used. Why can't this gesture bring back the home screen, like from within a running app? this would be consistent with the rest of the ui, "swipe from left right always brings back the home screen". I often intuitively do this gesture and wonder why it's not working :)

@droll@naughtydog change the swipe direction of launcher can help us go back to multitasks screen faster.Just like the N9,swipe vertically to check apps and swipe horizontally to see running apps.

@droll and @naughtydog, if it was so that you go down from home screen to the launcher, but browse the launcher pages horizontally, the benefit would be that you can go up from any launcher page to get back to home screen.

You can return to your home-screen by a pretty neat move, swipe from bottom then swipe from side, or even just swipe bottom twice, does only work on launcher, on apps this is different, you will return to the last used app

I dont get what you mean exactly with this...

Swiping from outside nottom takes one to notifigations and doing zigzag at the bottom doesnt do anything for me...

Or swipe from bottom twice in a row (show events screen, hide events screen) and you'll be home.

it's the notifications screen. get to that screen then from there do a side swipe.

@Boxeri "swipe from bottom then swipe from side" or as @ssahla said "double swipe from bottom" same effect (that does only work on launcher, on an app you will return to that app!)

Swiping bottom twice is a way to multitasks screen.but if we can change some gestures or designs ,which allow us to go back with only one gesture,I think it would be more convenient.
