It would be handy to have per-alarm configuration in the clock application and be able to choose (at least) different sound and different volume for each alarm. Alarm duration would also be handy. These additional options could be added to the "New alarm" / "Edit alarm" user interface.

This would be ideal for e.g.

  • manually configuring a pre-alarm
  • differentiating weekend alarm from workday alarm
  • differentiating partner-must-get-up alarm from I-must-get-up alarm
  • etc.

Sidenote: Of course, additional options would also be handy, but that's another request.

The whole alarm clock should be remaid, it sucks. It seems to be one of those things which they just whipped together so they'd have an alarm clock but never bothered/had time to actually do well.

@Kehis personally, I do not think it sucks, it is just missing some features. If you need something else, I suggest to create a new question as feature request (or app request), giving details about an alarm clock that would not suck. If the idea is good and people vote for it, there are good chances someone will take care of it.

There are a few, of which the most important are https://together.jolla.com/question/1717/customizable-snooze/ & https://together.jolla.com/question/8501/ascendingincreasing-alarm-clock-volume-tone/ The clock is unfinished.

IMHO: I agree, it would be nice to see those added to the clock, but I don't see why it should need a remake for that.

By the way, is alarm works when phone is shut down? Is phone able to wake up and turn itself on on alarm time? My older Nokias was able to do that.

It may be a simple and basic application, but it is used every day. Why no love for the alarm clock?

It is very impractical to have one global notification sound for alarms, countdowns, etc.! I have set a soft melody as my alarm sound so I don't wake up with a heart attack every morning. But this same melody is useless when I try to time my eggs for breakfast!

Suggestion: Keep the clock/alarm sound from the settings menu as default. Add per-alarm setting to override the default sound by chosing user defined tone/file and volume.
