Nice that you decided to move this here from the previous pad - I think TJC will serve well in this purpose also, also good to have many different topics under the same roof. Meetings might get new people too?

@cybette I wonder about the outcome of the action items 2 and 3 from the September 23th meeting:
> 2. Jolla to possibly spare some engineering time and fix up the proprietary bits to at least not crash and burn on SIP
> 3. cybette to poke SIP/dialer guys in Jolla
Unfortunately SIP is still not usable using the latest Jolla update.

topic: Futur of jolla in the professional environment

some details about the topic: I've been promoting Jolla as a platform for my clients and their feedback might be good to be heard. More in details, every time we gain a client/project for a mobile app (mostly Android and iOS) we always propose a version for Jolla or Ubuntu Touch for free (in order to promote those platforms and to help them understand the benefits of a convergent code), but usually everyone chooses Ubuntu. At start I thought that it was because they knew the name (so there were more attracted to it) but after long discussions with our clients we found out that this wasn't the case. If you allow me I would be interested in explaining what are their concernes (and why, if this doesn't change, we might at libretrend change also everything to Ubuntu Touch).

approx time needed: 30 minutes (maybe even less, I think that anyone interested may need more time for the questions than for me to explain).

optional: None (I'll be the one to be there because I am the only one who has all the direct contact with our clients).

@LibreTrend: if your development capabilities match your reading and understanding skills, I get why your clients do not want your Jolla apps, even for free. And that didn't take 30 minutes.

@mkld Thank you for your kind message.... English is not my first language but in fact I missed the part saying "Template for topic proposal: (you can edit this wiki directly to add your topics)". I'll change the original post and add it there.

Name / IRC nick: Lolek

Topic: Sailfish security

Details about the topic:

It seems that currently the OS is pure simple Linux with only very basic permission structure. There's no SElinux/Apparmor, no application permissions. For example pictures made by the jolla-camera app has got 644 permissions which means every single other app can access it. Based on the fact that Jolla is secure (as of some statement on one of the Jolla webpages) this doesn't look like. Also same problem is with the very old web browser which is very dated (Firefox 38?). According to official information, this year we should see system encryption but what with the rest?
Unlocked bootloader message is also something not very welcome, but I think this is more related to Sony. It would be also great to have some more secure unlock screen. Current one is very fragile for example video recording i.e. someone can record when we input the pw to unlock our phones. Regarding Jolla account I'm missing option to remotely wipe out my phone from account.jolla.com. This is somehow a trade of between privacy and security as Jolla would need to have access for my phone but it can be made as opt-in.

approx time needed: probably less than 10 min but it highly depends on Jolla answers.

optional: name of substitute if you cannot make it to the upcoming meeting

I can't edit the wiki post because I just registered on here, but:

Name / IRC nick: ArmsOfSorrow

topic: Platform Development documentation

some details about the topic: this https://sailfishos.org/wiki/Platform_Development and various other sites about platform development are still just placeholders. I'd really like to help advance the platform (e.g. update some old packages), but the documentation on the whole process is scattered around various sites. When is it going to be (more) complete?

approx time needed: ~5 minutes

optional: if I'm not available (when there is a meeting date/time), just answer the question and make sure the log works.

@ArmsOfSorrow: done. Which makes me realise I must be particularly ill, since I've just helped an emo.

some details about the topic: why everytime there is an event or a presentation jolla or other sailfish brands like intex are only showing android apps like whatsapp and not native ones like sailorgram or music library...you will never help the ecosystem to grow if you are the first not caring for native apps

approx time needed: 5 minutes

optional: if i'm not there simply answer the question, i will read it in the logs...

I don't have enough karma to edit the wiki, please add this to the main post:

  • Name/IRC nick: ArmsOfSorrow
  • topic: upgrading to bluez 5
  • details: Is there a plan/timeframe to update to bluez 5? I'm developing an application using QtBluetooth and I'd like to use the same connection setup code for Linux PC, Sailfish and Android, but that library does not work in Sailfish and I was told it's not going to be fixed for bluez 4. Also, is there anything I, as a developer, can contribute to that issue?
