Currently there's no way to accept/accept tentatively/decline invitations (at least from MS Exchange, Lotus Notes and Zimbra) in Mail app which would also insert the event in a calendar (user selected). Also the appointment cannot currently be created/sent neither from Mail nor from Calendar app.
Update: Planned to be implemented in Q3 2015 according to development roadmap available here.

Mail and calendar apps now manage the import of calendar events from email to calendar, but we still can't manager invitations. This means that the sender of the calendar event cannot be automatically notified when the recipent accepts / refuses the invitation.
There is also no way to adding people in a calendar event, other than sharing it as a vcs.
For a business smartphone, managing calendar events and invitations is a must-have.
At this point, it is the only feature that Jolla needs to become a fully business compatible smartphone.

Hello,
As of SFOS 3.0.1.14 we're now able to accept / decline invitations in Exchange and Google calendar. In addition, we can also send / import .ics files.
What we miss is the ability to create an event in the calendar app and add an invitee. We can receive invitations and accept / refuse them, but we can't create an invitation from the calendar app.
Is that on the roadmap?

Huh. Just today I got two emails with .ics attachments that I then successfully added to my calendar with a fingertap on the attachment icon. What exactly is not implemented?
Calendar app is also capable of sending events as .vcs through Email app, with a Share pulley menu option.
(Perhaps that was only implemented in the latest update, that was officially shipped today)
There is a difference between just importing or sending an event on one hand, and being able to accept or decline an invitation or even propose an alternative time and place on the other hand. The latter is part of typical business phones with collaboration capabilities such as Blackberry (phone plus server) in combination with usually Lotus Notes or Exchange ecosystems. Think of scheduling an event with ten participants.

Importing invitations from exchange has worked for long time, it would be nice if I could actually do something with them. Now I have to send separate e-mail every time. And latest meeting requests brought duplicates, I just deleted the one of them.

For me this is very needed functionality. To be able to use Jolla as my main phone most of the business requirements must be present and solid. I do not like Microsoft and its products, but unfortunately most big companies are adopted MS products and one have to live with it in order to earn money.
