Opening a new topic because I think this is different to the issue below: https://together.jolla.com/question/52880/bug-exchange-contact-synchronization-problem-contacts-disappearing/

I was looking through my list of messages today and noticed that for everything the phone number was coming up instead of the name. I opened People app and it's completely empty - all my contacts are gone! First place - google account, somehow the sync had reset to 2-way, but when I looked in my google account only a few names were there. This is the only account that has a contact sync. I also have my facebook account setup on the phone, but those contacts are also not appearing.

I notice that the names appear in the message notification so I'm hoping this is some temporary weirdness!!

@kearnage - Can you try this:

  • Go to the google account disable contacts and save
  • Go again inside the google account enable contacts and save again
  • Wait a bit and check people app to check if your contacts are now there

Also please notice that the contacts from Gtalk(the ones not in your address book) are only shown when your 'presence' is in offline mode.

@VDVsx, This did work for the contacts that were in my Google account. The rest I managed to bring back after a few reboots - about 3-4 of them. It's a bit worrying that something like this can happen though!

Had this happen today, just randomly...

Reboot fixed things.

I also had this once today. SMS app showed only phone numbers, contacts app was empty, and when trying to sync with sync evolution, it complained that it cannot access the sqlite db. Reboot fixed it all of these.

This problem happened to me after hot swapping a sim card and telling the phone to reboot. I had to reboot once again to get my contacts back. The first sim card was still locked when I removed it.

Happend to me second time today. It happend everytime short time after upgrading SFOS. I am using carddav and caldav with owncloud/nextcloud. Contacts and calendar entries were missing. Today multiple reboot did not help. Had a quick look in the sqlite DB in ~/.local/share/system/privileged/Contacts/contacts.db. In table Contacts I found only my favorite contacts and some xmpp contacts. But I found a lot of entries in table DeletedContacts with a timestamp from my first reboot today and another bunch of entries with a timestamp from when it happend before.

Final solution was to disable automatic sync in accounts for my carddav/calddav account followed by a reboot. Everything is back now.

hmpf, happend again: Upgrade to 2.0.5, upgrade-reboot: caldav/carddav still everything is here. After next reboot all contacts gone and the whole calendar is missing (not even listed in manage calendars). After triggering sync in accounts everything is back again. Perhaps my problem is the same or similar to https://together.jolla.com/question/142197/caldav-calendars-get-lost-when-the-sync-server-isnt-available/
