I'm using sailfish on my Nexus 4, so I can't use the android version of Facebook Messenger. The problem with the default native messaging app is it doesn't load older messages/messages that weren't sent from Sailfish. Is this planned to be fixed in an update?

I don't think this can be fixed. Jolla uses XMMP protocol for facebook chat. I'm not sure XMMP itself can do this - maybe with some extension. Problem is that fb wouldn't support it anyway. This integration could be rewritten to use FB api instead of xmpp, but that would require constant polling for new data (eg. goodbye battery/data). Perhaps it could be combined together - use xmmp for new messages/sending + some background synchronization of older messages? It might work, but there would be some other complications and I don't think it's currently worth the effort.

There are some apps that do show chat history, like Disa for Android and Quick Chat for webos. Don't know how these work though.

Seems like I'm out of luck, thanks anyway.
