I have an e-mail with several aliases. I always use my alias whenever I send an e-mail, so it would be nice to be able to specify a custom sender in the Google and IMAP account settings. Currently, when you add a Google account, Jolla doesn't even give you a way to input the sender's name, so all e-mails you send from it contain only an e-mail in the From field (not even a name).

In my case, email client send ALWAYS my login name (ISP telephoe number !!! ) sender is : 123456789 <123456789> .. WTF ?!?!? Client use always successfully log-in name, create fake name then edit to real is not workaround. This MUST be fixed ASAP .. useless now ..

I'm quite surprised this still isn't implemented in the settings gui. Given the comments here, obviously this isn't such an edge case?!

You can set up manually until UI is fixed with libaccounts-glib-tools

pkcon install libaccounts-glib-tools

ag-tool list-accounts

ag-tool list-settings <account id>

ag-tool update-service <account id> <service name> (int|uint|bool|string):<key>=<value>

Ex:
ag-tool update-service YOURACCOUNTID email string:emailaddress=YOUREMAIL

Would it be difficult to turn this into a pulley menu setting?

For Finns, the use case is using @iki.fi address with some other email providers servers via imap and smtp. The ag-tool solution enables @iki.fi address usage with kapsi.fi provider for example.

Workaround for me to fix sender name (not only mail alias):

ag-tool update-service ACCOUNTID email string:fullName="Your Fullname"

Thank you very much, that's work great.

Note ACCOUNTID is a number which you can find by command "ag-tool list-services". - Dislike!

One thing I still miss is specifying sender's e-mail in Google account which is different from your login. I have several e-mail aliases in my Gmail account and usually send an e-mail as one of the aliases. For this only reason I've had to disable Email in Google account and create a separate IMAP account with the same credentials.

I did have manually defined sender address, but now (in 1.0.8.19) I can't find the setting anywhere. I use normally my carrier's common mail (...@saunalahti.fi) but I can not change sender or replyaddress to my normal forwarder address (...@iki.fi)

@jpek-m Settings->Accounts->Your account, Display Name is the first field below "Details" section. To change email address, open pulley menu select "Server settings", first field in that new page.
