Night mode which inverts the screen when it gets dark

Some GPS navigation devices have this feature that changes the colour theme to a darker theme using a light sensor or sometimes just based on the time. This could be done either by inverting colours or then by switching to a darker colour theme.

I think the Maps app on the N9 had this kind of feature too?

Would this involve more than just switching to a darker ambience? Perhaps automatically?

I guess a darker ambience could do it but it would have to be really dark but still with high contrast. Yes automagically "using a light sensor or sometimes just based on the time"..of the day.

I agree that a dark, high-contrast ambience is needed.

better use L-Sensor indeed depend of the real existing light (not night/day)

Not only GPS navigation devices have that feature, but also displays in a car.

Would be really, really good to have that with the Jolla!

Turning it on at nights in dark environments is really hurting the eyes (e.g. if adjusting the alarmclock, taking a note or quickly looking something up when already in bed). Or in cinema/concerts creating just too much light still, so annoying the environment.

All apps creating UI content would need to support that, just an ambience would not be enough.
