Media Player doesn't read all files

I copied a few MP3 files on my Jolla using USB option. However, not all MP3 files show up in the media player. Moreover, the same is the case with MusiXmatch player (Android App), as it also doesn't read all files. The files are placed in the same folder, so I am a bit confused.

Anyone else with the same problem? Any solutions?

Without opening mediaplayer, open up Terminal (assuming you have it enabled) and type in;

tracker-control -eshit enter. Let tracker do its thing and then check back on your files. If you don't want to use Terminal, then have a look here, similar problems are discussed, see the post from Bimberle; https://together.jolla.com/question/9677/bug-some-mp3mp4-music-files-do-not-play/

EDIT: I noticed a JTC member, Schturman, has created 'Tracker-control Refresher', found on Openrepos;

https://openrepos.net/content/schturman/tracker-control-refresher

This little app saves the user from entering Terminal, but hopefully Jolla will get that sorted in the next few releases of SailfishOS.

Also, if you have any flac-files on your device you might have run into this: https://together.jolla.com/question/50744/media-no-longer-recognising-album-info-after-update-10819/#post-id-57658

Sorry for the late reply, was away!

BTW, the solution worked. Also I installed Quasar MX player and it read all files by default before i went into the terminal. Definitely a better music player than the default one. :)

Glad you got sorted!

I also have Quasar MX, went for the paid version in the end. Although, I still use Mediaplayer as it plays my .pls collection.

Quasar's definitely the best among all I have tried. I have kept the MusiXmatch too as it's a fun music player. That's all I'm gonna keep on my Jolla as far as music is concerned!
