In MeeGo and Symbian there were options for "3G/2G", "2G Only" and "3G Only". In Jolla there's "Prefer 3G". The thing is, it has trouble letting the 2G go. Switching to 3G takes at least two minutes. Only connecting to 3G would be nicer.

its annoying that when there is full 4G network and it still changes to 3G which is having only 20% network(20% network not useful either for calling nor for mobile data) ......,now days In india all service providers upgrading to 4G, so now they have good 4G network than 3G
Earlier patch was available now that patch also removed....I understand Jolla may have valid reason for giving "prefer 4G/prefer 3G" options but please give "only 4G/only 3G" for the sake of those jolla users who are facing this issue please do something...
I want only 3G and 4G too. It's for me important because some places there is moderate 4G signal strenght and 3G that is same strenght (or even worse strenght). But I want faster speed so this is really important feature for me. This is short explanation of my situation.

We really need to control every mode individually. Like the coderus patch ( more network mode ) do. Really important, the jolla takes ages to switch between mode, and sometimes, i know there's a 100% 4G signal strenght, but it takes 2/3 minutes to be found.
2g only / 3g only / 4g only & why not prefear 3G / prefear 4G

I want 3g+4g only option. Automatic works very very bad. It always switch to 2g when 3g awailable

also 3g is way harder to sniff. So it's more secure than using 2g.
slaveriq ( 2013-12-29 20:29:37 +0300 )edit3G Only mode (with 4G data allowed if possible) would be the biggest improvement for me that could be made to this phone. Nowadays I actually use 3G Only even when traveling because 2G data in a fast-moving vehicle is close to useless anyway.
Does anyone know if 3G Only can be enabled via terminal?

Nice in theory and in Maadajävri there's improvement on boot behavior, but there will always be situations where 3G Only is needed. My record in Finnish Lapland is a working 3G connection at 24 kilometres from the base station!
