DownsideUp - an idea for the fourth view?

Jolla phones have portrait view along with left and right landscapes. But the fourth possible view isn't used at all. I suggest we change that.

Peter Gabriel's song "Downside Up" describes the feeling of changing perspectives. We could steal that idea and run with it.

When lowering the arm from portrait mode the screen turns so that the downside changes to up.

What if the phone shows something completely different it that view?

Flipping the contacts downsideUp could show just the marked phone number in a larger font. To show someone else. A pullUp menu could then allow quick sharing.

Flipping the phone downsideUp in the media app could show a huge picture of the album cover with the name of the artist and track.

But things could be taken even further.

Standing at the gate waiting to board your flight. You're checking for news at TJC. When the departure is announced you grab your backpack and walk to the gate while you start typing a quick message to your friend. At the gate you turn your Jolla downsideUp to reveal the barcoded boarding pass and keep walking. You finish the message and send it before activating flight mode.

Can I have something like that?

Could this be implemented in apps right now without adding stuff to sailfish? Is it possible to detect the downside up position in the operating system?

Cool idea to use that position for operating the phone!

Not sure about the examples you name, but interesting things can be done with this idea...
