While trying to fix the warehouse update problem here I sent (in devel -su) a command to check release version like instructed on the answer given: # ssu re Device. Now it says: release is currently: Device When understood what I did wrong, I tried to change that in the terminal and tried to open Dev mode, enabling Dev mode was impossible.

I am a former N9 owner but with no knowledge of how things work and that's how I ended up like this in the first place. I've been reading you guys here for a long time now since I obtained The Jolla phone and it's the first time I desperately need an answer. Sorry for being such a noob!

Perhaps a reset is in order, have a look at this link; https://together.jolla.com/question/22079/howto-all-pc-users-recover-or-reset-a-device-that-is-stuck-in-boot-loop/#post-id-22127 here, there are instructions for Linux, Windows and Mac users.

I realise you're not suffering boot loop but the instructions guide you on resetting your Jolla, as your problem may not be solvable without terminal access on your Jolla.

Can you still login via ssh from your PC? If so, you can probably fix whatever is wrong. (It's much more confortable to use your PC keyboard for things like this in the first place). Also, what exactly goes wrong if you try to open dev mode?

You will have to set the release back to what is was, ie use ssu er 1.0.8.21 for the latest up to date version. To display the current release use ssu er

in order to change release I have to be root, so...

when enabling dev mode in settings, bar doesn' fill and gets me back without enabling eventually. guide for ssh for noobs? is there? I will give it a search and a try, if it will help.

There maybe guides for noobs, but a guide on using SSH is NOT going to help you now.

@dthierbach - You cannot login into SSH if you have cannot enable Developer Mode.

@filipb92 - The release cannot be set via Terminal now, as Okourkoulos has not been able to enable Developer Mode, you won't gain root, if you cannot set developer mode - Disable Terminal on your Jolla and try - I just did to make sure I'm giving the best help I can. If you don;t enable developer mode, when you plug the phone into USB, you only get 2 options on phone CHARGING ONLY - PC CONNECTION.

Seeing as there are (so far) no other answers suggesting otherwise. You need to fully reset your Jolla. It will give you experience if nothing else.

IF you cannot gain access to root from the handset and you cannot gain access to root via SSH - it's only logical to RESET following instructions on the given link.
