Hi, as the title suggests; a suitable guide for a complete new comer to using the Sailfish SDK would be excellent, or even a visual guide, screenshots, would be just as helpful.

I've had a good search on the web but I haven't found any suitable videos to follow. I'm quite capable of following written tutorials, but at the moment, when I open the Sailfish SDK, I really don't know where to start or how folders/files get laid out/should look. I'm quite certain once I've seen a visual representation of how it should look I can get on with the rest of the building.

Might a JTC member create a short screen cast or just some screenshots of an Ambience RPM in creation?, I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to see such a tutorial/walk through?

Regards,

I don't use SDK, but maybe I can help you by another way.

  1. Read description and use this package. Use files from "myexample" and "myexample-sound" folders as a guide/example to create your own ambience.. It's easy to understand/cr eate the needed files. https://openrepos.net/content/schturman/ambience-copier

  2. To create your own .rpm file directly on your phone, use this guide: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=92963

By this way I created some .rpm (ambience) packages for myself...

Good luck ;)

Thanks for the info Schturman, much appreciated. :)

Yes, I'm aware of your ability to create ambience and package them, you packaged my first ambience for me, which is now on Openrepos (Allblack Ambience).

I have enough knowledge to create a working ambience, it was just the packaging to create.rpm is where I fall down, but I will have a crack at the guide you linked me to, thanks again.
