dear all, i bought the OPO device because i had the opportunity to buy it. after one day of use, i can say that Sailfish is 20000 light years away! i dislike Android!

BTW, i found in a OPO device "gesture" when the screen is off (standby). you can switch on and off the torch simply drawing a "V" when the screen is off. you can also change the played music simply drawing an arrow, or open the camera drawing a circle.

it's easy and fast!

it's possible "port" this gestures in jolla?

i hope this is not a duplicate question.

There is an app available in the Google Play Store (if you have Play Store installed on your Jolla?) called Pi Lockerhttps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pilockerstable&hl=en It does similar to what you are asking, but is of course, an Android App!

I'm totally off topic. but if just interested in quickly turning on the flashlight, install powermenu (from openrepos), and assign power button double press to launch flashlight. This would turn on the flashlight even if the screen is off & locked with security code. :)

Some enablers have already been implemented in mce, see https://bugs.merproject.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1537.

Basically that allows tapping into all gestures that are reports via EV_MSC:MSC_GESTURE events (If other events are used more adaptation enablers are needed), and configuring the actions taken similarly to what is already available for the power key. For more complex actions also ui side components are needed. There is ongoing community activity (by @kimmoli, focus on oneplusX) for this end.

Lot of (if not all) OP gestures are allready there for One Plus X (with SailfisOS), so shouldn't those be easy to bring as part of official SailfishOS. Basicly Jolla just needs to want to implement those? Sure flashlight etc are used differently in different hardware, but lot of things are ready, right?

I would definitely want those to be part of the base system.

Hej,

Indeed it would be nice to have gestures on a locked screen, bit isn't it hardware based? Like the double tap?

Or with the led. Hardware is only capable of blinking it (on-off), it is the software that dims it. Hence it only works while charger is connected.

LVPVS over.

I want to revive this topic. I recently got my Oneplus 2 and I was annoyed by Android after 5 minutes using it. But it has the same nice features like the OPO which are described above and I would really appreciate more standby gestures like the double tap wakeup (which is also supported by the Oneplus 2). Those are the things which work on the Oneplus2:

|| (horizontal lines with two fingers): pause and restart music playback
>: next music track
<: former music track
V: activate/deactivate flashlight
O: open camera app (which should only work with non secured phone lock)

I think this would be a great enhancement to a operating system which is already heavily gesture based. :)
