Under this situation, uninstallation fails. The app icon still stays in the app launcher. There is no visual indication that uninstallation failed.

i suggest to either provide a visual indication or (not as good an idea), to automatically restart the dalvik layer during uninstallation. the latter is not preferred though because there are other issues related which should not be handled during uninstallation.

@droll - Suggestion: Change the title to - [Bug] Android App Can't be Deleted / Removed / Uninstalled if Android Support is Disabled.

I don't think that's a bug.

@hardy_magnus - The bug is that the user doesn't get any warning that the android app cannot be uninstalled if Android support is disabled.

@sifartech: the bug is we get a cross on the android app to uninstall it when the android support is disabled.

@hardy_magnus: yes, that's the point. There's no indication Android support has to be active to uninstall Android applications.

(Yeah, just discovered this. Couldn't figure out what was happening until on a hunch I enabled android support.)

Issue: Android app cannot be deleted / removed / uninstalled if Android Support is disabled.

Steps to recreate the problem:

  1. Enable Android Support.
  2. Install any android app using its .apk package.
  3. Run and use the android app once or twice and close it.
  4. Disable Android Support.
  5. Disable Start Android Support on bootup.
  6. Restart the phone.
  7. Scroll to the app icon from the home screen.
  8. Long press the android app icon until an x appears over the icons.
  9. Tap on the x on the android app icon.
  10. The remorse timer appears with the message that it will remove the app.
  11. After the remorse timer countdowns to zero and disappears, the android app icon remains on the screen.

Resolution:

  1. Go to Settings and enable Android Support.
  2. Now repeat step 6 to 8 (from 'Steps to recreate the problem' above).
  3. This time, after the remorse timer countdowns, the app icon disappears from the home screen indicating thst it has been removed / uninstalled.

Expected Behaviour:

An error message should pop-up and inform the user that an android app cannot be deleted / removed / uninstalled if Android Support is disabled.

Hardware: Jolla 1
Software: Sailfish OS build 2.1.0.11 (lijoki)
