I've been using Amazon appstore to get Android apps for my Jolla phone. The apps work well, but I seem to be unable to properly uninstall the apps: 1. I long press the application icon in the launcher. 2. I press the X symbol. 3. The icon is gone, but 4. The Amazon appstore still lists the application as being installed on the device.

Now, I cannot reinstall from the appstore. I cannot uninstall from the appstore.

:-( Any clues as to what I could try are very welcome.

To avoid the problem: Uninstall from Amazon appstore and not from Jolla UI! If you already deleted app from Jolla UI: Read hetas' answer, find apk from device and reinstall. Then uninstall with Amazon appstore.

Long-click an app in Amazon App store to uninstall.

If that doesn't work you could install someting like Es File Explorer which has a built in app manager and do the uninstall using that. You may need to use the older version of ES File Manager and ES Task manager. I was able to install the new version at some point but it stopped working.

What I meant with "I cannot uninstall from the appstore" is that long clicking the app in Amazon appstore fails to uninstall.

I followed your advice and installed ES File Manager for Cupcake. With it I found the apks still on device. I reinstalled from them with Jolla File Browser. Kindle works!
