Android service autostop/timer

Since the Android service seems to drain the battery and reserve resources, it would be nice if the user could set a time period after which the Android service would autostop if it has been unused/idle.

thank you for your suggestion by email. Unfortunately this is not possible, since currently daemons are not allowed in Jolla Harbour applications.

If the situation changes I will consider doing this.

How about making a separate version of KillDroid for Openrepos?

Yes that is an option. Though in my opinion this sort of stuff should be handled by Profilematic kind of app like we had in the beloved Nokia N9.

Hopefully Profilematic is done someday for Jolla too.

If you want you can try to use this package: I created it a few months ago for personal use. Some stuff you need to know:

  1. Dev. mode activated
  2. installation of my package will install python package too for notifications.
  3. Default checking time is every 30 min. You can change it by running this command as ROOT, for example to 45 min:

    echo 45m > /usr/share/openrepos-autokilldalvik/time

or you can do the same by editing this file in ROOT filemanager (filetug, cargo dock etc..)

  1. Don't know why, but process of Skype app starts automatically sometimes with dalvik and run in background even if Skype not opened. Don't know why and don't know how do checking for this to understand if Skype opened or it's just background process. In this case Just open Skype and close it, otherwise my app think that Skype app is open and will not do nothing...

Doesn't seem to work on KillDroid shows service is still running after 30 mins without use..

check if run or not. if yes, kill it and wait to the checking time. I didn't install last update, waiting for official release...
