When my N9 screen last month (again) broke I decided to take my chances and bought a Jolla last week. I was very exited when it arrived yesterday.

I installed several apps, updated SailfishOS, got used to the gestures etc.. For installing android apps I wanted to install Google Play. So I followed this howto: http://www.jollatides.com/2014/04/03/updated-installing-google-play-on-jolla/

After copying the Apk files to the alien directory and restarting the android engine, my device suddenly somehow crashed and I had to pull the battery. After reinserting the battery I was suprised that the phone was hanging with the JOLLA logo in screen.

I tryed to boot up recovery mode. That didnt work, the phone is now only showing up as "qualcomm hs-usb qdloader 9008 (Com8)" in the device manager and is not showing the jolla logo anymore.

  • Not booting after installing APK
  • battery has been fully charged last night
  • blank screen when putting battery in
  • When connected to pc comes up as "qualcomm hs-usb qdloader 9008 (Com8)"

'QHS-USB Mode" means your device is basically bricked and is now set in 'QHS-USB Download Mode'; this mode is for vendors to flash bootloaders, etc on the device. I don't believe the end user can rectify this kind of problem. I could be wrong, but from articles I've read, problems like this means it goes back to the original vendor to be fixed or put in the bin and you get a replacement - hopefully.

If you haven't already, best you get in touch with Jolla Zendesk; https://jolla.zendesk.com/hc/en-us

I hope you get sorted really soon!

Regards,
