So, I need to tell you my experiences with Jolla.

I'm a fan of Nokia phones. I've had N8, E7, N9, Lumia 920 and Lumia 1520 and that's only the smartphones. N9 was really my favourite, so I really wanted to see how's Meegos legacy doing right now. I got used, but in good shape being Jolla. I've had it for few weeks now and want to share how I feel about it.

It's damn beautiful, that's for sure. Using it is like riding a bike, once you learn it, it's the most natural thing. But I'll focus on the things which are not great. And I mainly compare it to Windows Phone, which I'm using daily.

  1. Browser - super slow sometimes. Rendering the web page takes forever sometimes. Even with the IE, which is not the fastest, I don't frustrate like this.
  2. Android apps & ecosystem - Almost for all services you have to use android apps. And they don't work well enough. They crash once in a while and notifications won't work well in any way.
  3. Stores - best store seems to be warehouse, but that shouldn't be the thing, right? Aptoide works pretty well, but they don't have even all the basic apps.
  4. OS - It's not stable enough. Phone gets laggy after a week or so and needs a restart. This prize tag is too much for laggy.
  5. Quality of native apps - even the email app is not the best experience.

So, I'm sticking with WP for a while and check Sailfish again later. I'm a engineering student btw, so it has been easier for me than for average Joe. Thanks for listening and hope this great community won't fade away.

my personal opinion is that only your 5th argument applys for me. i'm always asking which android bulk is needed. i dont use any android application, i just have here maps installed if i need maps. browser and mail improvements i posted somewhere, for me there is missing a calender widget as on the n8 vanilla. then there could be a few improvements to all native apps and it would be fine for me.

Things look better if you don't use whatsapp, telegram, instagram, skype... Only android apps are solution for those. And those are services I need on my daily basis. Here android app is pretty great though!

I mostly use android compatibility for some games. And those work fine. Everything else is working quite well (though their is lot of place for improvements). I use owncloud sync for files and calendar (didn't get contacts to work yet), native here maps, mail, terminal, browser (which I think is fast enough, but I'm on 21Mbit LTE) and media playback. So it's very useable on a daily basis for me.

Actually the Uitukka update both comes with lags if heavy multasking is your way but also improves much browser experience with updated gecko engine (version 31) unless already nearing OOM.

I don't really see how you can dismiss points 1 or 4 ... the Browser remains god awful, even in 1.1.0 - it's beyond me how people can not use Android alternatives, even if they crash sometimes (still less frequently than native one). Also, I've never had a single day when something hasn't totally wigged out with the OS, basic functions or apps, or some combination thereof. Some people claim to be luckier, and they may be, but for most people Sailfish is still going to be too much of a headache for daily use.

While it is not yet as mature as iOS or Android it is usable enough for me. Most of all it has proved that the concepts and architecture of the OS is solid and deserve to be supported not only from geeks but hopefully in the not too far future also from OEMs

Mostly agree with Valtsul. My Jolla sleeps in a drawer, waiting for... I don't know. The thing that annoys me is that the device is already a year old, and won't walk. It was also extremely expensive (I don't live in Europe), and it is not even usable as a music player.
