Is the Sailfish UI themeable? I mean, not just change the ambience but also the style of the various controls, i.e. like on KDE/GNOME.
A theme could be for example one that tries to minimize visual differences between native and Android apps
Eventually a template for a theme could be a very valuable example application to include in the SDK

The goal of Silica component look&feel was to keep the number of visual assets down to minimum, and put emphasis on user content. There's no themeable graphics used in switches/buttons/sliders, so it would require substantial work to allow traditional skinning of the interface. That effort would naturally be away from any other feature development as we're a small company.
Skinning/theming requires specific tools and skills, but with Ambience, everybody can play around with the look. People can extensively skin Android and for us to compete in that area is just not logically sound, at least for now.
Ambience is intended to be a lot more than just an image and set of colors in the long run, please be patient and wait what we have in store for it :)

Perhaps I'm already fully satisfied with the differentiantion with Android already there with a standard linux solution based on systemd + wayland + qt5, an open development and communication model and the design criteria of putting the usefull functionality in the OS rather than relying on third party apps.

Ability to limit the number of apps shown with a chosen Ambience - e.g. I could have just one certain "Android" Ambience, and then all my other Ambiences could be set to hide all Android things (as my goal is to limit the number of Android apps installed on my Jolla).
If the different Ambiences also had separate settings for the ordering of the apps, the four apps shown on the Home screen of my "sleeping, work tomorrow"-Ambience could be very different from my "working"-Ambience, or a "training"-Ambience, or a "driving"-Ambience, or a "public transport-commuting to work"-Ambience.

While I can thoroughly appreciate how busy staff must be at JollaHQ with the whole OS, I have a question - are we likely to see, for the 'paid for' The Other Half ambience themes, updated to suit a rotating UI (portrait & landscape wallpaper) ? (I also appreciate that full UI rotation is not yet implemented in SFOS 2.0). I'd love to know how to add/trigger settings/radios, etc into an ambience. I've noticed a form of 'time stamp' in all of the newer ambience themes preloaded onto current SFOS, is this of significance?, a way of automagically changing ambience by time/date/setting..? Any clues appreciated ;)

Ambiences are themes. The only thing I would support making 'themeable' in the traditional sense would be icons.
Sailfish UI doesn't need static themes.
Ambience surey is a theme (a very good one). But the visual customisations of ambience actually are limited to the background (that triggers the colors)
I propose to support other themes together with ambience or alternatively to increase the options available in ambience, for example:

Don't like this idea. What's the point of making an "Android" theme ? The goal of Sailfish OS is to differentiate from Android and other OSes

The idea is to let Sailfish more customisable on the look with themes as in KDE/GNOME. If I'm not wrong Qt/QML are themeable, so I wonder if it's possible to use that feature in Sailfish also
