I would like to share ISO image that is based on Lubuntu 14.04.1 64-bit

It contains full Sailfish OS SDK Beta 1410 installation at the /home/sailfishos directory. You can try it as live CD or you can install the operating system (Sailfish OS SDK included). Well.. it works like an ordinary Lubuntu live CD.

README | md5 sum

Also you can build a live USB device

I reccomend to use Ubuntu Live USB Creator with Ubuntu, or Universal USB Installer (select “try unlisted linux iso” in the list) with Windows. They are nice because they leave the original boot menu. Be carefull with creating writable space (casper.rw) on your USB device. It may cause real problems with performance if your USB device is not fast enough.

Comments on the shared use of Sailfish OS SDK

As you know, the default Sailfish OS SDK is installed for the specified user. And then it works only for the user who installed it. Since this live ISO was conceived to be used without any specific user, I moved SDK to the /home/sailfishos directory and preformed some additional settings with the paths and the permissions.

Honestly, I just gave full read/write/execution permissions for all.. Not very cool, yes. But there were bugs otherwise. Also I do not pretend that everything is done completely and correctly. But it works. If there are any coments or suggestions, be sure to write.

Launch your application

Since the virtual machine image changes when you use it, in live-mode it will be copied to RAM at the first calls. It takes some time. Therefore, before starting a project you need:

  1. start the Sailfish OS Emulator virtual machine - click at image description;
  2. wait until it looks like image description;
  3. start the MerSDK virtual machine - click at image description;
  4. wait until it looks like image description.

Awesome, just what I've been looking for. Are you sure your link is fine? I only see an index.txt with a link there. Why not post the link directly?

Yes I noticed that and found the ISO. But the indirection might be difficult for some.

Ok, I moved the discussion in this new post so we clearly evaluate and understand the needs and find together the best way to make it happen :)

I have an Intel Atom Quad Core Baytrail tablet, and thought I had found an easy way to install an OS with a USB startup disk. I am a business person, and I would like to not have to install virtualbox and a software development kit to be able to install an OS. IMHO, Sailfish could capture all of the people currently looking for an alternative. I installed Debian 8, which I love, but hardly anything works, and there's a whole community seeking alternatives. I saw that the Jolla tablet is also Intel Atom / Baytrail based, and my hopes went up, then back down again.

The image has been removed from the public access due to restrictions on the Sailfish SDK distribution :)

We will try to work something out with the guys from Jolla.

Please, share your ideas if you have any.

restrictions

What ??? How does that define 'openness' of the platform if the SDK is encumbered by restrictions.

@gbraad: You might want to read the EULA, the issue is the distribution part, and as @KiRiK mentioned, we are working together to solve this at best. Now, I'll ask in a new question how many do need/want the SDK Live image so we better understand the demand and act accordingly...
