Dear Jolla,

I feel sad to hear about yet another campaign to gather money from us, your costumers, anouncing a new tablet with a new version of Sailfish that will supposedly contain most of the features we request!

But how do you believe we can trust our hard earned money to yet another device aiming to be whatever we wish it to be, when the one that cost us €400 and was supposed to be whatever we wished it to be, turned out to be very lacking in features, both in hardware: NFC, RAM, battery-size, hdmi, Miracast, screen-resolution, hw keyboard, fm-radio receiver/emitter, etc.; as in software with all the bugs/missing features (for instance the still terribly unstable network connectivity), and the totally divergent updates roadmap, with regards to the community wishes??

What saddens me most is to see an announcement of a sailfishOS 2 without even mentioning if we are getting an upgrade path to it, with our Jolla Phones; aswell as all the talk about openness, again, when we are still waiting to see it realize, with our last investment, more than a year ago!

Do you honestly feel that I'm giving you any more money for yet another promise, untill I can trust the product I already have in my hand is worth the big investment of time and money (at the very least in terms of stability)?

I end with an actual question: Is sailfishOS 2 coming to Jolla phones, if so when? And will it be after or before the most proeminent bugs in sailfishOS 1 are fixed?

From different posts and questions/rumors here it seems that update9 for general-public (not those who opted in) is joining update 10 and may end up being branded Sailfish 2 at release (rumored to be 27 Nov).

Update 9 has been released last month. Update 10 will probably get released this month but it will not be SailfishOS 2.0 simply because it's a release focused on bug fixes (which is a good thing, IMHO).

Looking at the sailfish-browser repository in GitHub I noticed that they finally merged the new UI, and that will probably make it in update 11 (pure speculation, of course). I don't know if the December/January (they deserve the Christmas holidays!) release will be SailfishOS 2.0 or not, but there may be a chance.

update 9 has been released? I don't think that a beta-testers opt-in counts has released, sorry

It has been already said that u9 will remain opt-in. There won't be the "general" release.

From indiegogo.com website and the Jolla tablet description: "Through the Jolla Tablet, Sailfish OS evolves to its second generation with the biggest update so far. Sailfish OS 2.0 will power smartphones and tablets".

As a conclusion Sailfish 2.0 is also made for phones but not for the Jolla Phone 1.0 since it is not possible to get a clear statement.

and why not? the Jolla1 is still a smartphone and thus can be powered by Sailfish OS 2.0, as the description you pasted says.

Answer from Billal working at Jolla is explaining that Jolla is committed to support the Phone and Jolla has only one OS but impossible to get a sentence such as "Sailfish 2.0 will run on the current Jolla Phone". I know how communication works and I can tell you that Jolla is beating around the bush. This is like the others.

Supporting a product does not mean deploying the latest version of the OS on the product. Supporting a product means having spare parts for products under warranty, or to be at least capable of repairing them and sometimes it means fixing bugs. They is such an ambiguity in answers from the Jolla Team that it looks like it is not planned to run Sailfish OS 2.0 on Jolla Phone 1. When you ask whether Jolla Phone 1 will run Sailfish OS 2.0. The answer is "we only have one OS". You can have one OS and two software versions 1.0 and 2.0. If you can't get a clear answer Yes or No it means that there is something wrong either Jolla doesn't want to commit, either it is not possible and they want to delay the answer. I hope sailors who are attending MWC will ask them face to face. As an early investor, a daily user of a Jolla Phone, someone who makes a colleague buy a Jolla Phone recently, I'd like to get an answer to a simple question. The lack of answer keeps me from buying the Jolla Tablet.

did anyone know Andro 3 was tablet only and it's still the same Andro !?!? Why would you want Sailfish 2.0 when it's just another variation of the OS with features that are MADE FOR A TABLET !!!!!!!!!!

I think Jolla can follow Apple's/Google(nexus models) policy of software update. as we know Apple provides software updates for Iphone and Ipad at more or less the same time. Even though Apple has huge workforce we at Jolla can do it as well. Jolla 2.0 is still not available in a device in market and you expect it on your old phone? I understand the desire for software updates, I as a lenovo phone owner is heart broken with no software update from lenovo (just got 1 update) but the software updates provided by Jolla are frequent as compared to any phone in the market.

Yes, but with those other devices you just mentioned you get a mature and feature-rich operating system.

Sailfish is still very much work in progress and needs a lot of basic functionality that those other systems offer out of the box. I don't care how many updates I get or what number the final version has. But I think it would be fair to reward Jolla 1 buyers with as much final functionality as possible. Without them Jollas market share would be 0%, there would be no community and no developers. Also, I believe most of them would line up for a Jolla 2 anyway, should it ever see the light of day. - So why not give them a satisfying experience with their "old phone" after waiting and struggling and contributing their feedback, time and programming skills to finally make it a viable alternative to iDroid?

I know this: I like the phone, the OS and Jolla's philosophy. I don't like missing out on all the cool and useful features that are nowadays expected from a smartphone. So if Jolla manages to convince me that I will one day be able to use this as a full replacement for my Apple/Android/W8 I will be the first in line for the next generation of Jolla phones!
