Apart from the usual tablet stuff [which all seems to be included] the only thing "missing" from Sailfish and therefore the tablet will be some sort of decent Writer / Spreadsheet application. I'll assume a "standard" bluetooth keyboard will do the job so the onlyh thing to maker this an "only tablet I need" is something to view written documents and more importantly, to create written documents and basic spreadsheets. Not an Android thing, but a native Sailfish application.......

https://together.jolla.com/question/59380/native-app-request-spreadsheet/ - Similar request here as well. I suppose, as it is answered in other post, editing feature of Calligra need to be ported to Sailifsh.

As a writer I agree that even a moderate writing application would be good. Even something as basic as the writing application was on the old Nokia 9210 Communicator would be better than we have now, I was surprisingly productive with that phone. Moreso than with the writing applications on any device I've had since. If said writer software could make it to the Jolla phone too would be nice with the TOHKBD.

I'd go a little further. As an anthropologist and writer I'd like to see Sailfish become a model ecosystem for focused, research-oriented writing. This could start with

  • Notetaking with Markdown formatting as an OS service that can be mixed into any app, along with a native background notetaking app that allows you to start a new note at any time, which gets added to a per-user stack that can be consulted and organized later.

  • Integrated citation management — in the browser as with Zotero, plus pattern recognition for MARC-style records on cut/paste, with a per-user citation repository that, again, can be mixed into any app.

  • A focused writing environment that uncouples units of text composition from file system units, similar to Ulysses III.

+1 for a simple notetaking app with markdown (and asciidoc) support, it would be terrible useful

Sailfish already uses Calligra for viewing files.

https://github.com/sailfishos/sailfish-office

I suppose it makes sense to use same Calligra suite for editing documents / spreadhsheets as well. Please vote on the below link to request for a native port for Jolla.

Hi guys, I hope this post is not misplaced, but it is very important to me. Some Jolla users, specially developers have this sailfish office app installed already on their phones, I went to Github and got the project files, but not being a developer I have no clue how to compile the app into rpm. So my request is for anyone with the compiled app to make it available for non-developers like myself, please, the document app of sailfish is a joke, can't even display all my documents. And Saprikin hasn't made NSR Reader available for sailfish just yet, am kind of desperate to going back to reading

@DameCENO you can find build instructions there : https://together.jolla.com/question/78299/how-to-build-sailfish-office/ . Besides, the document application you have on the phone is exactly this application you found on Github, just that not everything has been reviewed / tested yet. But the point is that the document application in Sailfish is one of the few application we can modify directly upstream, so let's make it something more than a joke, indeed ! Have you reported here or on Github the issues you have with documents you cannot view ?
