A fingerprint reader would be awesome. It is useful to unlock the device without typing any password that can be easily stolen on train or at home by friends or colleagues.

I don't think, that this is a good idea. Even if more and more manufacturers sell this feature as a nice and nifty security feature, there a quite a few arguments, that spoke against this (anti-)"feature". Several times the german hacker association "Chaos Computer Club" proved, that fingerprints are very easy to fake. Here is a video that proves it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRjnDMgEJNM
Even if this is not bad enought, there come in addition that you can't even change your fingerprint! So all devices and everything where your fingerprint is deposited gets compromised.
Additional to that comes that Jolla maybe not open the source for the fingerprint authentication and you never know, what happens to such a private and personal thing.
Please don't get me wrong. I know how comfortable a simple swipe with a finger can be to unlock the device. I just want to shine a light on the downsites of this technology :)

Ahaha I like your last quote. It depends on technology used. Like iPhone's touch ID or a classical fingerprint reader. Hackers can violate almost anything. Even a two step security procedures, like Microsoft Account protection it's useless if someone steals your rucksack with you're tablet and your mobile. I think for the mass it's a step forward than the classic password. That's just my humble opinion. :)

If Jolla implements strong full device encryption, that's proven in the wild ( a good example is LUKS/dmCrypt for Linux ), there is almost no way to bypass the security measures.
And i also think, that the two step authentication from Microsoft works if the user use it right! Thats mostly the main problem with security. The user wants a safe device/account/whatever. The user wants it to be easy as possible. The conclusion is, that the most time you can only have one of that two wishes.
The one big problem i have with fingerprints, is the false feeling of security by the user.
All after all, this is just my humble opinion ;)

It is easy to steal and/or misuse and a fingerprint reader would in no way suit into Jollas message to protect your privacy. Thinking about it in depth, nobody should want his fingerprint to be stored in a mobile device... it is neither secure for the device nor is it for your biometrical unchangeable data.

NO! The fingerprint stealer is the one reson not to buy an iphone. The iphone 10 will probably come with a DNA scanner, all to serve America... Any device storing its user's most intimate data should be banned from sale in a free country.

Note that I might understand a thing or 2 about fingerprints, their readers, privacy, security and anonymity. And still feel that it would be nice to have this feature on a tablet, too. Or I might be totally wrong and reading fingerprints is all bad..

after all the down votes received I have to think that maybe I'm the only one looking for a complete tablet with a fingerprint reader and a wacom pen so unfortunately from what I see a Jolla tablet is not for me. Too bad.

We receive a lot of ideas and suggestions, which we are grateful for, but all of them can't be implemented. We've reviewed your idea and unfortunately it is not something we can implement, at least right now.
However, we will keep all suggestions, and might revisit this decision in the future if we see an opportunity to implement this feature-request in an upcoming product/SW release.

The US is an example of such jurisdiction. So no thanks to fingerprint reader!
