Every one knows how it works the calendar/contact/ mail Service by google. On the jolla phone we could synchronise it with the google account. Is it possible to synchronise jolla or sailfish device, with a owncloud service, Or maybe a jolla account with futur service as contact/calendar/task. Will avoid to have some piece of life delivered on the other side the atlantic, ( i think about a better controlled of privat-sphere and accurate backup of data accessible fast everywhere).

I let it a little opened for a while. Because i analyse some service. So that i can give a better feedback here. Other alternative are really welcome

now a little bit. may I ask you, how far are you done your experiment with it? please seems the contact not working with sailfish. it's a little bit odd that doesn't work...

alternatives service are fruux (thanks to heurtebise for given me the info). Service is really new, and some functions are on development. But seems to work stable, and has nice interface. Support is pretty friendly, and people react really fast. They know really about they speak.

And memotoo https://www.memotoo.com. Not bad too, we can sync documents too.

both are european (one is german and the other french).

I preferred a solution compliant with the standards sogo / CalDAV and, among the providers listed in the official site http://caldav.calconnect.org/implementations/providers.html, I chose http://serverxmx.com. The prices are unbeatable and, until now, the service is impeccable.

I use posteo.de as email and calendar service and it works good.You have to pay for it, but you pay only with money, not with your data. You can use it completely anonymous and they offer anonymous payment.

@silta not bad. could you give some advantage comparing other one (if it's possible)? Is there no free and limited start-package to test it?

There are no free accounts available. You can test it with an unpayed account, because you can use new accounts immediatlely after registration with some restrictions (look here https://posteo.de/en/help/what-restrictions-are-there-on-new-unpaid-email-accounts)

Alternative you can pay 1 Euro for 1 month and revoke within 14 days of opening your account. Also you conclude no longtime contract. You are able to terminate your account any time before the end of the month.

The basic account for 1 Euro per month includes 2 alias mailadresses where you can choose between a lot of county codes like .at, .org, .co.uk and much more, unless your main adress is always .de.

There are so much features that I can´t list them here. If you follow the link above. you get a lot of information about the account and the company behind posteo.de.

They say you have 14 days to use unpayed accounts. After this time you should pay. If you don´t want to use it furthermore, you can close the account in settings without paying any cent.

If you don´t close the account, sometimes later you are unable to send emails. I think it would be fair to close it, so that they haven´t to delete tons of dead accounts every week.

this alternative OS can only do mainstream stuff ;)

luckily we are not the first to not use google and following there to articles i got owncloud to work: (using the amazing 'third party' tool syncevolution) https://together.jolla.com/question/880/summary-of-owncloud-integration/ http://linux.bigga.de/details/sync-calendar-and-contacts-on-jolla-with-owncloud-using-syncevolution/

@weberik yes! owncloud is a good alternative too. you can sync with your own configured owncloud server. it is a little bit unlucky that owncloud is not proposes as one of the default new account on jolla-phone. Thank you very much for your feedback. do you use it yourself? could you give some info about your own experience with it? it will be nice. Thanks in advance for it.

@cemoi71 i use owncloud for contact and calendar. my setup on the desktop is thunderbird with the sogo addin and on jolla i use syncevolution. apart from the links i posted i had to change a syncevoluton config file via ssh because my selfsigned certificate wasn't accepted. now kinda everything works fine and i'm happy with the solution. coming from android(where i had to use 'third party' tools for kinda everything) im used to this kind of trouble :).

There is an other alternative that i choose for me.
That is cozy cloud. it is not at the same stage like owncloud, is still as beta.
It has a lot of features which already well works i think.
It has a fast development update.
And need some time that is comes to really good functional system.
