We're dealing with more than 8000 questions, now many of them are already dealing with issues on both the phone and the tablet. We have a tablet coming up, estimated delivery on May 2015. Of course it's worth new ideas, and people already have questions, but the most importantly, we have an unfinished operating system on the current Jolla phone in urgent need of fixes and features.

So, when you have an idea regarding the tablet, please consider how high priority you'd like to give to your idea - should you post it now, or in February, or even after you have the tablet in hand. IMO, Let's clean up some issues before bringing in bunch of new ones.

Meanwhile, if you really feel the importance high enough for a new question considering only the tablet, please tag it with jolla-tablet so people who want to considerate on phone can add it to their ignored tags.

To make this also a relevant question which can be answered: At which point the issues related only to the tablet become important enough to be added to TJC?

EDIT: Please check also this post from @cybette https://together.jolla.com/question/63823/jolla-tablet-considering-hardware-requests-usefulness/

Dear simo,

Not a critique for yourself, but I think here is a container a problem and ideas. Most of the people have no idea how it is makeable (easy or not) how judicious for the other one. A lot are not involved on the implementation of the os for new functions or resolving issues. The best people who could make an analyse how hard it is, how long are more or less involve on the os implementation. That are those people who could make a priority. Not those how wish to have it, they have no ideas. they could just accept if it no makeable and why. I don't understand your submit, sorry. you can't give the user the responsibility to set a priority for their which, I found this request a little odd. Or i don't understand what you means.

Best regards

yes, that's the point: we have an unfinished operating system on the current Jolla phone in urgent need of fixes and features.

@cemoi71 Thanks for your comment, I try to clear it out... Yes, I think that each user, before posting a question to TJC, checks the importance of that issue in his/her own opinion, compared to the existing questions in general. I suppose everyone is qualified to value their own opinions and decide if to post now, or to keep the portal clean, a bit later. I still think that every question is a good question - just that we need some actions/awareness to keep the corners clean ;)

@jolladiho Exactly ;)

i believe that each people which participate here and well motivated, want the best, and will try not post some bullshit. maybe, because of misunderstanding could some people not really understand the request or the question. or could someone make a kind of duplicate. do you think really that some people overact (exaggerate)?

When the devices are shipped.

How would anyone in TJC be aware of any issues without a device at hand?

This whole "let's create a device together" probably got a little out of hands this time. Right after announcement TJC was flooded with duplicate question asking for the same bunch of features (bigger battery, 3G/4G, hdmi, etc.). According to Mr. Pienimäki hardware is already decided, so all these were more or less useless requests. Excitement is of course exciting (duh!), but I'd wish everyone to hold their horses. Just for the sake of TJC:s clarity.

Sorry for being realistic and boring.

/rant.

Sail on.

As unwillingly as i am to say that but i think you're right. The chances that the tablet hardware itself changes much are very minimal. But on the other hand; they encouraged us to "create a device together" and everyone doing its best to provide some nice ideas. Lets wait some days and the flood of suggestions will decrease. Some people also do some nice work in declaring duplicate requests. And maybe the wish of some people comes true and Jolla add some more hardware to this nice device :)

Keep on Sail'n

Thanks for the clarifications. I do not completely agree to your proposal of holding back feature requests until February, until having the tablet in the hand or until "it is the right time for it". I really like the idea that part of the development process can be influenced by the community this way before delivery. And I think the community will use the voting mechanism to decide which of the ideas could be worth following and which not, and I guess the developers will consider and decide then which of those are feasible and which have to be rejected due to practical or technical or whatever other reasons.

And yes, there probably will be some noise now due to these requests and ideas. But if people should hold back the ideas now although you asked for them, because the phone software has to be finished and the noise is so disturbing for the development process, why then this tablet was introduced now and not "when the time is right"?

Considering that there might be still a chance for hardware modifications, even if minor, all the ideas that come to the minds of supporters and community should be expressed now. Maybe if some really demanded hardware change depends on a certain production volume like cybette mentioned, that is something to put in as stretch goal on indiegogo still. But that is only possible if the ideas are expressed and these expressed ideas then at least checked and considered by Jolla, before production. And if in the end the hardware can not be changed due to whatever reason, or due to missing production volume, so be it. At least it has been tried.

Very good answer with very good opinions - thanks :) As I thought, we have people with opinions in both ends, now having these two answers makes a good poll.

I think at this point, using this format can become counter productive. Are there any ways to create subforums here? For example, there is Stack Overflow for programing and Stack Exchange Mathematics for math discussions. If you separate tablet into a different subforum, you'll make life easier for everyone.

from the question comments: There's another question suggesting separate forums, your answer might fit into better there (nice idea anyway): https://together.jolla.com/question/63967/separate-forums-for-jollaphone-and-tablet/

Another suggestion : Please Consider splitting "together" into two parts , One for the tablet and the other for phone. Its getting hard to browse the phone issues using "sort by activity" . I understand its nice to have both at same places using tags but its not helping there is an overwhelming list of demands/requests for the tablet and the whole phone issues are sinking down thanks to the design of the platform.

When contemplating about splitting TJC I'd suppose to split in into at least three sections: - Sailfish OS - Phone - Tablet

This is what Jolla "officially" informs about Jolla Tablet and this forum: "Start sharing your ideas and casting your votes now! We will prioritize our feature considerations by the number of votes, and if it's feasible, we will make it happen based on your suggestions."

And you say "come back in February"?

I say that everyone should feel free to participate at any time they want to. Don't close the doors.

It was clearly mentioned above that if you feel it as high priority feel free to tag it as "jolla-tablet" . Its nothing about "closing door" but prioritising stuff and since they are a very small company they are overwhelmed. The above statement is a polite way of saying "Please don't DOS attack us " !
