I started a fundraiser to better support Jolla and SailfishOS community members. I am not an avid GUI programmer, but I did contribute already with quite a few packages, which many have used with joy. While I believe in all to be completely free to use in any way. I do need YOUR support. I have a few target projects, besides keeping my packages up-to-date. As excersize for GUI development, I want to create a better tor application, using a proper front-end, with coverpage showing statistics and current state (I hope fx. network traffic can be included like a graph). I also, for this, want to further develop that package to enable system-wide tor proxy. But, one of the main priorities, will be a flashable recovery image. I have already been working on this, but, I need more devices (I will most likely brick at least one during trying). For this. I will also need a new PC for development (currently I have none, but been using mer project pages to build packages).

Link to the indigogo page is: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/jolla-tablet-developer-startup/x/9178804

On TMO rcoliste starte, on his own initiative, to support my work, a thread. And you will also find updates, and information on there: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=94203

Thanks to those of you who have already contributed.

Best Niel

Hi Neil, TOR and flashable recovery image are a great target to aim for. Thanks for all your previous work and hope this gets supported by by the Jolla users. Richard

@Nieldk: IMHO, it would be valuable if, along with calling for funding, you'd also collaborate with others on these projects, particularly for the GUI development if you're not that fond of it. Also, giving a bit more insight on your main target would be nice. Requesting other ways of support than monetary, here on TJC, would make your endeavour even nicer :)

Absolutely. I already had support from Solbrit on prey (which I also want to develop further, to be more complete). I can also learn, from other developers. No doubt about it. It is not that I am not fond of GUI development, but I need to learn a bit more for that. And tor is a nice target for learning - also with help from other developers.

@Nieldk

Do you still intend to give the money to Jolla if the goal isn't reached? You removed this stipulation from the Indiegogo page after I asked a question about it there, but haven't written anything about what happens if the goal isn't reached, to replace the previous condition.

I'm very happy to contribute, but only if the money is going to you; or in case of failure to reach the goal, then other Sailfish developers / community bounties for fixes or requested features.

Could you clarify please?

Edit: bump because can you respond to my last comment @Nieldk ?

@midnightoil: In case my goal isnt reached, some fees will apply to indigogo, unfortunately. Other than that. I will prioritize as follows: 1. A tablet (this is new HW, and I want to be able to test on device) 2. At least one Jolla phone (as mentioned, I am highly likely to brick at least one) 3. If enough, a (cheap) laptop to develop 'firmware' image

I do, and always will, donate other developers. And I will certainly also donate to help those evolving my projects, for example by creating nice GUI frontends.

So, EVRYTHING will go back to community (no beers)

@Nieldk Thanks for the answer. Not really interested in the tablet, but contributed anyway.

@midnightoil thanks ... And, I wont stop working with the phone, quite the contrary, the phone is my main device. The tablet is just to ensure that everything works on there also.

@Nieldk If you don't reach your goal, I'll consider giving some old laptops / second Jolla to you or other developers. Though other Jolla may go to a guy I know personally, if he's interested in playing with it .. he's a code genius and could be a very valuable asset.

@midnightoil what a super offer. I think your Jolla (if you really, really want to give it away) should be given to your friend developer. The more the marrier :) The laptop is a great offer, and I thank you for this, very kind of you and shows the spirit of this community! Thumbs Up ! It seems like I wont reach my goal, but lets see, people are still paying attention. Sadly, there will be higher fees to IGG if I dont reach it, nut in all, I am extremely happy with the great support given by you all. Once more, thanks. Love You all.
