[Jolla Tablet] Introducing Stretch Goals in the Campaign! [not a question]

What does MicroSDHC support up to 128GB mean, actually? Does this mean you are adding support for the extended FAT filesystem, or is this actually an hardware change? Because if this is the former, it looks a bit like cheating! :)

I know it means having to pay royalties and stuff, but exFAT does not work on my Linux PCs anyway, and I will format my cards in either FAT or EXT2 anyway.

Uhm. $2,500,000 for Cellular data? I would say: Challenge accepted! Hope we can reach that stretch goal!

@mikelima Most probably just buying an exFAT license. :) If you format the card with EXT4 or btrfs, it should work fine, but >32 GB uSD cards come preformatted with exFAT and people might also want to be able to exchange data with their other devices that don't understand EXT4 or btrfs.

@MartinK, yes, that is what I guessed. I do not want to get in people's way, this is a feature that has been requested on the phone too. If it is a software feature, I suppose the phone will get it as well. This may be useful to point out, there may be people waiting for it. Personally, I think card format should not matter at all, I very rarely remove a card from a phone once I put it in. There are easier ways to access the data that do not require opening the phone, find an adaptor, stick the card in, stick the adaptor in the pc, copy data, and reverse.

Considering that 64GB cards practically should work already if ext2/3/4 or btrfs is used, and I don't see how that would be different for 128GB cards, I guess this means only licensing exFAT, right?

1.5m seems achievable, but if it is only for an exFAT license, well, I don't care so much.

1.75m seems also achievable. split screen is only software development. fair enough.

2.5m means almost doubling the funds. I don't believe in that for now.

Sad that there was no battery update or some of the other ideas. Let's hope that some small improvements are still to be included...

How do you raise more than the 1st goal when the campaign in Indiegogo left only less than 500 slots?

Are there any 0.1 $500,000 or 0.2 $1,000,000 stretch goals met?

Actually this microSD card support 'limit' of 32GB (whether on the Jolla phone or tablet) sound very mysterious indeed ! From personal experience i managed to get my Jolla phone working with 64GB card by reformatting the original exFAT file system on the card to FAT32. (I understand there's 4GB limit per file but that's ok with me as i don't keep big files..at least i get to use larger than 32GB card !)

Therefore i'm under the impression that it's actually technically possible to have higher then 32GB usability of microSD cards without hardware modifications, perhaps the hurdles are purely man-made i.e. probably additional costs to incur due to certifications & administrative issues in order to satisfy various 'approving authorities' etc. of various 'needed formalities' before such a product can be 'cleared' for production ??

Why 3.5? Why not LTE? A universal LTE that supports USA and everywhere else.

@AbyZThomas doesn't LTE have different frequencies in different parts of the world. At least US has different than EU.

SDHC can only support 32GB. What you mean is support for SDXC, which is theoretical limited at 2TB.

You should clarify this, to prevent misunderstandings. ;-)
