Down-swiping with the phone in my hand is really, really awkward. (and often collides with apps that have pull-down options) I would love, when an app is at its top level (particularly the people and settings windows) if they would allow a swipe from the left edge, to close the apps completely.

I don't like the idea. It's bad for left handed people and even an side option would eliminate usage with both hands. You can close the apps in multitasking screen with a long press, and then pressing a cross that shows up (pull down to close all open apps).

A simple left-right handed user option in the settings would sort that out. I do use the "x" but it isn't elegant.

As I said, the option is bad, as I use my phone with the hand that I happen to pick up my phone with. I would be forced to use the phone with either left or right hand. I'm all for the customization of swipe gestures, though.

OK - so an option to allow it for the people like me that want it!

My custom push actions proposal is kind-of related in that it'd allow you to at least move the "close app" action to another edge (e.g. bottom edge if you deprioritise access to the notifications view)

Message has been read. Most likely its against our UX policy, so I doubt that will not happen, unless someone ie. from openrepos does 3rd party solution.
