Sorry when there is a duplicate of this feature requests - i tried to find a similar feature request without success actually - it would be great (as mentioned in my early indiegogo comment to have a full featured usb host port instead of just an otg one - to connect for example dvb tuners, usb nics and other nice additional gadgets! It is not that important that this host port have enough power to connect this things - an external powered usb hub is not an issue from my point of view.

I'm pretty sure that this is wanted by many campaigners...

So please vote this up if you also hope for an usb host port to be present at the jolla tablet.

An actual USB port is waste of space, prone to break and collects dust. USB-OTG is a much more feasible option since it provides the same functionality, can be charged through the same cable and plugged USB devices don't stick out and snap off. It's also one opening less in the tablet design.

I agree - i'm just hoping for the usb host mode (maybe i should have labeled the fr like this) functionality to work as expected - to be able to connect for example usb nics, soundcards, dvb devices ... so this maybe requires more complete usb drivers not another hw.

USB OTG means that a device that normally acts as a client also can act as a host.

Well it seems to be my misunderstanding of "otg" - but then the important feature request is that the typical usb gadget/usb ethernet/usb dvb/usb sound device drivers should be available!
