Like on BB10, the native browser experience in Jolla is poor because some websites send basic mobile pages instead of customised ones.

On BB10 I bought Evolution Browser so that I can fake the user agent as Android, which works well.

I tried Opera for Android but I don't see a fake Android setting, only mobile and desktop. I remember in Opera desktop there were several choices. It also suffers from non correctable localisation, displaying in the network language.

I don't want to use Chrome, if it also works.

I had no success searching for 'browser' in the Jolla Store.

UPDATE: I see Webcat mentioned in some other thread, I will try it. I see that it appears in the store if one searches for 'web browser'. Initial testing looks promising, great faking. Scrolling menus should be improved. As this is a Sailfish app, it displays in the system language correctly.

I will continue configuring the phone and investigating showstoppers.

UPDATE: The answer is Firefox with the Phony add-on. It displays directly in the system language, so maybe the Android apps showing in the network language is more their own fault.

I now installed Dolphin Browser, the Android setting works. I have to check the experience, given that it is an Android app.

Removed feature-request tag, as there are other questions asking that

BTW, Dolphin launches in the network language, but the setting can be changed in the app (assuming you don't get lost in the wrong language menus).

One issue is that it still does not support downloading.

First usability check shows layout problems and re-zooming and repositioning when going back. Switching to Dolphin to see how it goes on Sailfish.

Dolphin: swiping from the right to access control panel is difficult, and zooming or scrolling disables full screen mode.

SailfishOS Browser is open source: https://github.com/sailfishos/sailfish-browser

It's relatively easy to add User-Agent faking feature to it. If one cannot do it oneself, there are other options: launch a campaign to convince community to add it, pay someone to add it etc. ;-)

Tried Firefox with the Phony add-on a bit now. Full screen is automatic, and going back does not re-zoom. I guess this is it.
