I don't know it work or not! but it will be a new way to save the battery! I think instead of using black & white display use low resolution for example in normal way the screen has 400 DPI but when u active battery saver mode this will change to 200 DPI This way would much better than Samsung ultra battery saver mode if You do that you will make jolla more different & interesting! . if jolla use Amoled it can be happen! after you turn on that half of dots will turn off like this pic http://www.imageupload.co.uk/images/2014/11/28/Battery_saver.jpg (black means turned off) I think it will possible!! what do you think?

you can do it with an amoled display by turning off pixels, but not with the IPS display that the jolla has.

the only way to save battery from the jolla phone screen is to reduce its brightness, you cannot lit individual pixels. on amoled display you can control individual pixels but even then in order to save energy you have to reduce the number of pixels you turn on.

Hi @Mohamad , thank you for this idea even though it doesn't work this way as stated above. Concerning the "negative votes", don't worry, just ignore them and continue to actively participate to together.jolla.com to provide Unlike features and ideas!

PS: If you don't mind, you can close the question using @2Ti answer.

So what does Samsung do? Maybe the just reduce the logical resolution of the screen in order to save CPU/GPU cycles?

Samsung make the screen black and white. in amoled screen black color make by turning the pixel off!! so the battery will work longer!! :)

~~DPI (dots per inch) is a physical measure. It measures the number of pixels (dots is a relic from the era of offset printing) in line per one inch. So to do what you suggest would require changing the hardware of the phone. I'm not sure Jolla is ready quite yet to release the update which contains the quantum mechanical physics altering software patch, but if they are I would like to register my interest for getting the time travel update as well - oh and the invisibility cloak TOH of course.

On a serious note, no it's not possible because it would require altering the physical composition of the screen. I agree that it would be awesome though.~~

I stand corrected, maybe the invisibilty cloak TOH is next.

question: how do I do strikethrough text ~~text~~ doesn't seem to work?
