[Jolla Tablet] CPU upgrade [answered]
According to https://twitter.com/locusf/status/535478482072260608 we will get http://ark.intel.com/products/80274/Intel-Atom-Processor-Z3735F-2M-Cache-up-to-1_83-GHz (thanks to dac for answering that question below)

I learn that I either want a Z3775 with 4GB RAM or Z3775D with 2GB RAM (both have a higher core and burst speed and are Type4 with several other advantages), if you need to stick to the 1.8GHz... the Z3745 (also Type 4 but with same core speed) would be my choice.
So they went for the cheapest chip available, why? I doubt anyone of the current contributors would mind to have paid $20 more and get BADASS CPU and 4GB of RAM.
Maybe Intel is not subsidizing the more expensive ones ?
MartinK ( 2014-11-28 12:57:24 +0200 )editWhy did you edit and change your question from "which is the CPU that will be used" to "why they went for the cheapest CPU", so that my answer now looks almost off topic? :-) Funny...
dac ( 2014-11-28 13:05:28 +0200 )edit@dac honored ;) I am in the process of reading up on every detail and what features are "must-haves" in my opinion, and my initial 3 still stand after reading up... added some more details
chemist ( 2014-11-28 13:22:11 +0200 )editno problem actually, Just thought that we should try to keep things consistent... Else people could get confused at some point trying to understand the thread... If the questions get changed after answers have been given. It was not about the "credit"... :-)
dac ( 2014-11-28 13:51:07 +0200 )editthe main difference in CPU upgrade is ... cost and as it doubles, more exotic models consume 10% less, they have faster bus, AES-NI support, etc. I would prefer to pay an extra $20 more to have the upgraded cpu instead.
