Github native client

I installed Github Android client from Amazon store and it crashes after launching. Appears momentarily though. Anyone else has tried installing and got it working successfully.

No discussion is complete w/o native client, so any possibility for the same? :-) Does it look feasible in terms of API..etc...

Am not a developer, but am part of various Linux / open-source teams and try to help by triage issues...Having an app on mobile would really help the cause...

Github App version - 1.6.1 Sailfish Version is 1.0.8.21 (Tahkalamapi) Update - 1.9 works fine. Will keep this open for native part.

I run the current Github app from play store (1.9.0 according to https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.github.mobile) w/o any problems.

Thanks. Will check it out. I didn't think it would need Google services, I will also try if version 1.9 perhaps.

AFAICT it doesn't need Google services - I just got it from the play store, so I added the link to the howto. Sorry for the confusion.

Installed the latest version 1.9 from 1Mobile and works fine. Sorry for the bother.

You can download Git from harbour, it's not a client with a nice ui but a program that can be run from the terminal.

So it shouldn't be to hard for someone to make a native git client with a easy to use ui.

Actually, the Github app is not a GUI front-end for GIT. It focuses on the "social" part of github, i.e. lists updates and changes for repositories and users you're following, lets you create and manage Github issues, and the like. Think of it as an app version of the Github web site.
