Hello Jolla,

it would be very nice if you could publish the sourcecode of the core Silica components. It would be a good start and would show a good faith to the developer community.

Most of the Silica QML is open sourced in the emulator environment, with BSD license, just no public repository for the QML components yet.

I think that you need to read https://together.jolla.com/question/680/co-creation-leading-to-co-development/ and the following answers. In short, open-sourcing also implies handling patches from community, open process etc and takes some time to settle.

In an ideal world this is how opensource would be working, but if you look at google for example opensource can also be quite unidirectional. Of course this isn't a good way but it would most certainly be a good start and definitely strengthen the trust in the sailfish operating system.

I do not see why trust comes up so often. Why would I need a source code? Is something wrong with Silica? If yes, then tell it to the people who works on it. Not everything needs a change. Just my 2 cents.

Maybe you don't care but there are people who do. I can say for me that I hate to develop for an platform which depends on some company alone. It just demotivates me to work for it. If it is open and can exists without a company I'm just more pleased. There is nothing wrong with Silica.

After consultation with Jolla, tbr imported all BSD licensed Silica source code into this Github repository:

Very handy for reference! :)
