Another company from Finland, Circular Devices, is planning to release an AOSP phone next year. Is there something that our community could do to help them adapt Sailfish OS instead / also? Common values includes at least:

Well, you could contact them and ask about their OS and plans but there's nothing that can be done here now I'm afraid, except, discussing, speculating and of course dreaming :)
So go ahead, and let's see how the Community can put something together and convince Alejandro Santacreu to ship SailfishOS on the puzzlephone...
@MiLano: Hey, relax :) I'm just saying that at this stage, @simo opens a topic where we cannot do anything else than speculate and our Community can hardly participate if HW and SW specs aren't fully known. How come i this arrogant? I'm just trying to be a little pragmatic here... Also, I believe there would already be a Jolla team looking for such vendor partnerships. Am not saying it is wrong suggesting it here but unlikely to have any real impact, IMO

Update: Sailfish is coming to Puzzlephone, as announced on Slush and Indiegogo. I will leave the following text here anyway...
As mentioned in the current crowdfunding campaign, it seems that at least theoretically there could be the possibility to use different OS like Sailfish on the Puzzlephone, as they plan for an optional package with unlocked bootloader.

Maybe we can convince everyone that not only a "Maker" package is useful, but also a "Sailfish Package"? At least quite a few backers seem to also be backers of the Jolla Tablet. I guess we could at least ask politely.

Update2: in the comments on Indiegogo we asked about unlocked bootloader and SFOS. Agra Apele answered (to Chris) that an unlocked bootloader "will be provided", and that they do take a note on SFOS for Puzzlephone... let's see what that means. :-)

sailfish would be great for the puzzlephone. Still it depends if they are already working on some linux/personalized version for their phone. However Sailfish on puzzlephone means more work for Jolla team. and It seems that they are gonna start shipping the first versions with android on it.
With more or less standard hardware it must be possible. If SailFish is wonderful, flexible, adaptable and open, why porting should be a problem? It's about contacting Puzzlephone and start cooperation. Users can't do it, companies should do it. Again, in the beginning there were talks that SailFish OS will grow by licensing. Year later, FireFox OS is already available on at least 14 different devices from different vendors. I would expect that somebody at Jolla responsible for licensing and contact will take a phone or write en e-mail to PuzzlePhone team and then tell us here what they were able to settle down.

Looks like the Puzzlephone Project is launching an IndieGoGo
Still no major word about Operating Systems, and open source code, but I guess we will see more at their SLUSH 2015 Launch in a few weeks.
According to them it will be Android based: PuzzlePhone Blog from 19.10.2015: "For now, we are working on a Android based PuzzlePhone. But we will be happy if any interested third party develops a brain that can run another OS."

I don't think they'd be interested, since they're looking to have a fully auditable phone, hence fully open-source, which Sailfish unfortunately is NOT!
