Hi all,

I would like to know how to specify manually the parameters for a wifi connection. What I want to know is how to specify an SSID, the type of security-key, etc. Something to what exist for Android/iOS, i.e, set up manually the wifi connection,

For example: Could you explain someone step by step how to add manually a hidden network with wpa2 encription please?

Thanks in advance

Just go to settings wlan. It will then scan for the available wlan connections. Tap the one you want and you can fill in whatever you want. Also works with hidden networks.

Go to Settings -> System -> WLan - connect to the WLan, then tap and hold your desired WLan to open the context menu -> edit

Unfortunately this context menu item is only available while the WLan is in range.

I need to connect to a WLAN manually, I need to edit some parameters before I am able to join it

then you need to add the connman config file by hand - eduroam or other WPA2 enterprise -> https://together.jolla.com/question/315/wpa-8021x-enterprise-others-gui-wifi-support-needed-workaround/

1) connman is always installed by default as Sailfish uses connman to handle/manage connections therefore using he UI to connect to a WIFI or 3G/4G network already uses connman

2) if you want to edit the networks by hand you have to activate development mode and start fingerterm afterwards and go e.g. to /var/lib/connman and edit the saved networks there (or create a new file)

3) at the moment (for me the biggest drawback of the Jolla Phone) the UI possibilities are very limited and some things, as for example wpa enterprise, only works if editing files with a text editor.

Thanks for the answer, and totally agree with you, the UI possibilities are limited in this kind of things

Hi luchmhor,

Could you tell me please, how can I edit the saved networks, or more important, how can I add a hidden network to my saved list please?

Or maybe can I do with any filebrowser? (I tried File Browser with root, but I couldn't see anything inside the settings file, I don't know the format of the file and when I opened as text it was empty for some reason, + I found 2 empty folders with long names, they looks like my saved networks but as they folders I can not do anything with them...)
