I think it would much improve the usefullness of the pulleys if they would stop on the last entry. What I mean is, if you pull the menu down it goes beyond the last entry (e.g. "Settings"). If it would just stop ON the last entry ("Settings") you could pull infinitely with your thumb and select the entry without proper adjustement or even with your eyes closed.

Not sure if I am explaining it right, but it's alike the edge of a desktop PC screen. You just throw the mouse at it, or in our case the finger. There is no benefit having the pulley to overpull, but making it stop on the last / highest entry could add additional value as you would essentially have a shortcut item that you can reach just by pulling down without carefully selecting.

I agree. What I've also found a little confusing is that when you pull the pulley menu all the way beyond the last entrry and let go with you finger, then the pulley menu sticks on the display. In my opinnion it would be more logical if it was sprung back up since nothing is pulling it down anymore.

Your suggestion would solve this since then you couldn't pull beyond the last entry.

Yes, more physical.

AFAIU, this is a backup interaction method. You can pull out the menu and just press an entry as an ordinary button. Not exactly physical (however locks with this behaviour certainly do exist), but pretty useful, especially if you are not familiar with this menu.

for bigger menus I quiet like that I can pull it out and it stays there to read my options!

Also, the tiny spring inside the Jolla that holds the pulley will last longer this way, as it doesn't have to pull the menu up everytime.

Ok, I just saw why it was done the way it is. If you overpull the pulleymenu stays on screen. This is a matter of taste, but I can see now, why this decision was made. This makes the pulley more accessible, especially for beginners. Maybe this is rather an idea for a third party patch?

This could be added as a behaviour option in the settings menu under display settings. I'd like that. Of course, this can be modified by the community, but I think this could be a welcome built-in functionality for both newcomers and existing users.

Optional would be fine, but not default!

Escpecially when you are not used to the gestures yet, you tend to swipe and pull in all the wrong places. That is why the possibility to overpull the menu without selecting anything is necessary and makes sense.
