Is it really? I haven't been able to use the camera in any android application so far.

@Olivier maker sure you have the update. And if you do you can try any QR reader application. I used QR secure from Yandex, but if you have access to Google Play I recommend "Barcode scanner" by ZXing which is free and uncluttered with ads.

Good news everyone. It does seem to work now. Even tough I had the (sailfish) update, don't know if something else was missing. Anyone have an idea how android actually interacts with the camera hardware?

My camera is still not working with Android apps. Everything has been updated, uninstalled, reinstalled and updated again - also all the way from factory defaults, but no luck. In Skype no video (not even a choice for video calls in settings), some apps recognise the cameras somehow, but say for each of them: "This funcion is not supported".

Camera layer is one of the features not implemented in the currently released version of alien dalvik. We are currently testing a new version which includes camera support, and will release it either in late December, or early January.

That's nice to hear. :)

Is there a preliminary changelog for the new version?
