The People app has an area for favourites. That idea could be used in other places too. Four of the apps are now shown on the home screen and the rest by scrolling.
There could be a special area for app favorites. It could be located between the home screen apps and the other ones. These favourites could have a different background.

I'm using a "Favorites" app folder, and I've placed that as 4th on my home screen, adding my daily used apps there. For me this solution works better than a possible new app-area, but your idea do has some visual value. I wouldn't mind having two top rows in the launcher screen with a different background color.
Maybe the easiest way to implement this would be to reduce the amount of dark cloaking just in top of the launcher screen, making the ambience background image work as the background for this area.

please explain what exactly is the difference between your suggested "favortite app page" and the existing first app launcher page. you can arrange the apps in the whole app launcher and give your favorite ones a place at the top of the first app lauchner page
Zandi ( 2014-12-07 12:55:49 +0300 )edit@Zandi - Sooner or later there will be an option for sorting the apps automatically. I have suggested a visual sorting method myself. If such automatic sorting is introduced then the four icons of at the bottom of the home screen would simply be the first in the favourites area. Scrolling would show the rest of the favourites at the top, followed by the rest of the apps.
