When entering or displaying a phone number, Sailfish currently shows it as one single element. Other OS - I've seen it on iOS and android - have a nice feature, they seperate the area code from the rest of the number by inserting a space between them. Here is an example: http://media2.giga.de/2013/08/ios7b5_telefon.jpg

I've owned an iPhone for a couple of month and really liked that feature. It looks nice and makes it easier to recognize the phone number (e.g. when dictating it to a friend).

According to Sailfish design principles, Sailfish appreciates "legible texts". So I think that this feature pefectly fits to the Sailfish design and is worth a look at.

What do you think?

edit: I'd like to mention that I mean to add the spaces only for displaying purposes. As suggested by ITU-T E.164, phone numbers should not contain spaces when they are stored.

I agree.

I personally do not like those spaces inside the numbers, it provides confusions when sending or copy/pasting via text messages. I would rather keep it this way.

The space could be only visual when the number is shown in the Phone, Messages or People app and when copy&pasting the space wouldn't be there?

This should be only used when displaying numbers. When copying or pushing the number to a server, there should not be spaces of course.
