preferably the existing or the next jolla device could be made or done in such a way that the internal parts could be upgraded...

make the higher capacity of parts with the same dimensions of the previous one so that you won't have to buy a whole new product....

so yoy could upgrad thr memory , ram , camera or the processor for example.. by just paying for the individual parts.. and can save a lot of money...

this changing parts can be done by giving it to the service centers for upgradation....

i think it won't be possible with the existing device .. but rather the next one

It is a nice ideea, but this is quite difficult due at this time manufacturers do not provide parts feasible for something like that. On other hand project ara is evolving fast and we may see first devices in the comming year. It will be a good opportunity for Jolla to be prepared with SailfishOS for ara devices.

we might see sailfish on a puzzlephone, another finnish mobile startup.

yeah but even though the openness might not be in the software but it can be in the hardware though...

@r0kk3rz I think you should change your comment to an answer, so that ppl can vote for it.

Just for the curiosity a sleep-deprived Danish journalist at a tech site misread a Norwegian article and thought that Puzzlephone was a Jolla product :D

Even though it would be a nice step, I wrote to him to correct his misunderstanding ;)

in this case I don't think voting for it will change anything. Google is laying the foundations for a modular android phone with Project Ara. so it makes sense to wait until it (Ara/Puzzlephone) is released and then look at the kernel side and see what (if any) changes need to be made to libhybris to make it work with sailfishos
