[request] features and editing tools wanted for the Gallery app

I would be happy with N9 like functionality, for me it was a much used functionality. especially the way it stored the original pictures in a separate dir

Wanted features:

filters
option to hide original from gallery by default
reduce red eyes
improve colours
resize image(not crop)
rotate / angle
customize the behavior after editing to one of three options: a) always ask whether or not to keep the original file b) always keep it c) never keep it.
When cropping, allow for adjusting the size of cropped rectangle
"Sort by" option in overview, e.g. date, file name, size etc.
ability to edit .png files
ability to exclude certain folders, e.g. album covers
- Add possibility in Galerie to create sub-folders in the Photos and Videos directories

Exactly. N9's editing app is good plus the feature I would love to see that the original picture is not lost when we edit a pic. We can go back the original pic whenever we want.(In fact we have both pics at a time in N9)

How about a function to overlay easy a e.g. IMEI or other secret infomation with a box

well the originals are saved automatically, no sweat here. but what exactly are the editing options you had in N9?

n9 had options to put a filter on it, reduce red eyes , improve colours, resize image(not crop). very basic options but they made life very easy

In line with many comments to the OP asking for each feature to be listed as a separate question/answer for independent voting, I hereby present the one I desire the most dearly:

resize the picture

That should also be the easiest to implement so it seems like a good start.

When cropping, allow for adjusting the size of cropped rectangle

This, please. Every time I take a photo I crop it to highlight some detail, but with the fixed rectangle it's quite difficult

Being able to select multiple pictures without goint to the top and using the pulley menu
Being able to share multiple images via bluetooth

I often need a possibility to protect sensible data like faces, serial numbers, IMEI, MAC-Adress etc. on the photos.

Ability to share several photos at once -- When the user selects several photos in Gallery, the only option currently available is "delete". Adding a "share" button enabling for example the upload of a batch of photos to Dropbox would be great.

temporary workaround for some of these is imagemagick commands via terminal. Not quick or easy but at least doable.
